Is there a LED retrofit for the rear taillights without bumper changes?

I was shocked as well to see there is still no retrofit part for 997.1. How could something like this take so long? It seems just about everyone would buy them!

Sounds like a great business opportunity.

Guys! No need to fret as my mate Chris is working on this mod! He's got a set of my rear tails and already has them apart working on the design.

Sorry to not have posted an update but we are following it on Rennlist. I'll keep you guys updated and will send him an email now with this link...

I would buy them in a second! The vendor that pulls this off will be printing cash. HA HA HA. I love the new rear and front LEDs and I want to retro my 997.1 S!!

interested. subscribed.

Jetpilot . . .don't let Chris forget about the front lights. I like the Techart LED's but they add a light and are in the neighborhood of $1300. Even at that price I'm thinking about them, but would rather use that kind of money toward 20% of a used supercharger ;-)

I would think that thread and to do list is a little more than the average Joe wishes to do to achieve the LED look.

That is why we are focusing on the original 997 housing in order to plug and play!

+++ I would not change my bumper just for shape of a taillight, unless someone plows into me. Oh wait, someone just did!

It's in the 997 section under the thread heading:

Gauging Interest: 997 LED Taillight Conversions

Chris has done the mods for the Acura NSX and others while now working on new templates for the 997 etc...

Absolutely right. Can't wait for an update with pictures. Hopefully we can have one with resistors built in so we don't have to worry about bulb out warnings etc. Thanks so much!

Just out of curiosity, I presume 996 LED tail light won't fit 997? They look awfully similar but I presume different.

You are correct, they will not fit.
