Is there a LED retrofit for the rear taillights without bumper changes?

hey guys

I searched and I saw it looked like someone had cooked up a design that used the skeleton of the 997.1 light (I have a 997 turbo) that was the 997.2 LED style. Anyone know if this is possible? I really like the look of the LED's but I'm not going to do any paint work or chopping up of the existing bumper. I know these lights are available from Suncoast, but I believe the retrofit requires paint/bodywork. Maybe it was just a lens or something, I dunno

This was the thread:

It really shouldn't be that hard. The mounting points are the same, it is just the external plastic plate that is different in shape.

TechArt already makes LED lights for the 997 using the OEM lamps, with modified resistors. You don't need to change the front or rear control units. You could theoretically use these lamps, and simply redesign the plastic cover to fit the design of the 997.1 bumpers.

Just a thought.

How about a simple front LED light bar... I have a '06 997.1 Carrera 4S and would like LEDs in the front!

Or could a 997.2 front bumper (and the LEDs, of course) be retrofitted to a 997.1?

What would this cost?

It was sad to see this die out, it seemed it had some momentum, but now nada. Come on vendors, make something!

They would sell tonnes of them. Dropped the ball in my opinion. Looking for 09 bumper and might do conversion.

TechArt ($$$$) has LED conversion for the tail lights. They do not require new control units or pin swaps, but still require a bumper swap as the design shape is 997.2.

I would be interested as well. I see tons of 996 LED tail light conversions (not quite sure of quality) but I have yet to see 997 LED tail light other than 997.2 retrofit which requires bumper mod.

All I want is someone to use the existing housing but replace with tons of bright LEDs and resistors to avoid dash warning.
