I've seen numerous posts here regarding changing out the stock "cats" for lower restriction "cats". In looking at various photographs (and climbing under my own car) it appears that the stock "cats" are part of the factory exhaust headers, correct or no? If so, do the aftermarket "cats" include a redesigned header, or are the stock cats cut off the stock header and the aftermarket cats re-welded in its place?

Sorry for the "newbie" question, but I can't seem to find a picture of any of the aftermarket cats to deterimine exactly what is involved in swapping out the factory items.

On the 997.2 the cat and header is one piece. They can be replaced but you cannot do one without the other...

 

That is correct, on the 997.1 (2005-2008) the cats and headers are separate pieces.
