I don't take eBay pricing too seriously, especially when the seller is a dealer. It seems they (for many brands, not just Porsche) put high reserves and treat eBay as cheap advertising. If if sells above the reserve, they did great. If not, they can follow up with the high bidder and maybe still get the deal done. Meanwhile they get contacted by other buyers and can switch them into other cars. Its good marketing, but as a result gives a bad market indicator.

That said, I'd probably part with my 07 C2S for $50k+, maybe even for less, just because I'm shopping for something else. Have been thinking of getting another car and a lift for the garage, but I could replace or whatever. But those seeking a perfect car will be disappointed as I have 51k miles (and climbing), I've tracked it, and the front hood should be resprayed due to chips. No dents or accidents, but not perfect.

Right now the killer deal seems to be the 996 TT which is available from the upper $30s to the $50s or so. Lots of them on the market.

I also think M3s will be cheap for a while since BMW is releasing the '11 in April but still has inventory of '10 and '09 on many lots. Those would be new; strangely the ask for used M3 '08 and '09 doesn't seem to reflect this.

"I recently saw an '05 S w/18k miles go for $45k. It helps if you're local to the car, ready to act, and like black or silver."

This is bang on. There were just some 05-06 S's on autotrader with PCCB that went for $45k.

If you don't care too much about the exact color & option kit that you get, it's a great buyer's market right now. Just make lowball offers to a bunch of people and some desperate seller will take it.

OTOH there are still a lot of sellers out of touch with the market, asking $60k for an '04 C4 for example.

When looking at the asking on '06-'07 c2s cars I find myself comparing the 2009 c2 prices. The new c2 has about the same hp and is 2 years newer, plus you can get a pdk for between $65-70k.

Exactly, a 997.2 base has only 10 less horses than a 997.1 S - 345 vs. 355 plus the fuel efficiency is higher in the newer DFI engine.

I actually haven't seen any '09 C2 cars that cheap. Plus, for me it's those BRAKES that make me want the S!

I came across this and considered it for a while, but the color didn't really appeal to me:

If the car is as advertised, it is a hell of a deal - 24% off.

I actually think that ebay a lot of the time has a better pulse on the P-Car market than Autotrader. My friend just sold his 07 TT/11K MILES in an auction on ebay and it only bid up to 75k, 1 hour after auction ended high bidder called him and offered him 78k and my friend took it..he has a new TT on the way and wanted the cash. But at that moment in time his car was worth that..I told him if I knew he was selling that quickly I would have given him more but that's how it goes.

Autotrader has a bunch of dealers who think that someone with cash dripping off them will buy their overpriced car and private sellers who wish they sold their car 2 years ago and the price reflects that emotion.

The problem is, as with anything, once a buyer/seller has seen in the past what cars have been bought for that number sticks in their head until they need or want to deal.

Right now I am still looking for a TT and didn't buy when used TT were getting slaughtered, I wish I had..Now I really want a PDK Turbo but want someone to take the intial 20% depreciation hit. Dealers think all is clear and they can ask pre housing bubble prices...This year is the year that any individual or business who does not have deep reserves will cave in..you either have spent your savings(if you are out of a Job) or cut your staff and inventory to anemic levels..bottom line is you can't hold your breath forever.

So..there may be fewer 2010 cars around which does help the used market quite a bit...if your a dealer you have the same over head but now dont have the inventory to sell ...you eventually will be in a hurt locker.

My prediction is that sales wont be great this year and OCT 2010 will be a great time to start looking for your car.

That is quite a deal. Looks like a new car. But it is really a "stripper" except for the Bose and Nav. I guess the MSRP on the non S cars is in the 80's.

That is a hell of a deal! Anyone in the market for a Carrera should use this as a negotiation reference point. No matter it's not an S, for negotiation purposes $64K for a beautiful 2009 (new I presume) is crazy good.

I am looking for an 05/06 non and S right now in fact. I have noticed huge price swings from 43k non CPO 05 C2S to almost 60K non CPO for 06 C2S. It is crazy. I really want a CPO as it is my first P-Car and I am by no means rich. I cant go above 45K and I REALLY want an S. I am looking to purchase in May but will wait until I get one at a decent price. I have a good amount of cash and wont finance through the dealer so I hope that a big fat cash pile plus check will aid me in my search for the price I want.

There's a really nice white C2 PDK - not many options though - going for $65K from a Rennlist poster.

But I noticed the same thing looking at the PCNA used finder the other day - prices seem to be high'ish. Best deals look like '09 base PDK cars.
