05-06 S market strangeness...
The used market is messed up. Everyone is trying to save some money buying used. Once the economy gets a little better, these 05 will tank.
If you can't spot a good deal, I would pony up and get a new one instead. The 997.2 have additional goodies like touchscreen nav and bluetooth which are really nice to have.

I bought my '05 997S w/ 25k miles about a year and a half ago for a great deal, and honestly think I could sell it today for almost what I paid. So far, this is the best investment I've made - the 997S is doing better than the stock market, haha.
Seriously, I love the depreciation rate on this car - proving to be a good buy - but as someone else has said, I think the car market will eventually re-align once it stabilizes.
On another note, I think there are a lot of people out there that don't like the 996 and are holding out for a used 997, which will always help resale values of '05-06 997s.

I agree, the depreciation has been great, and I'm glad I'm not in the market any more
Two months after this post I found the right deal on a 4S and couldn't be happier with it.
