05-06 S market strangeness...
Has anyone looking for an '05-06' S noticed how weird the market is right now? EBay is one indication. The asking prices are high, and there is nearly zero bidding activity on 30+ cars. I can't remember when a car actually sold on there. Sellers are holding tight, and buyers aren't buying.
Dealers seem to be way above market. Recently I talked with a friend who traded a '06 S w/ 45k on the clock. He got $46 on trade, and the dealer reconditioned it (but did not CPO) and is asking $53k. Meanwhile you can find non-dealer '06s w/ half that mileage for $50k.
Cabs are especially odd. Sometimes their priced with a premium, other times they are at near parity with the coupes.
At least inventories are building. There are now more to choose from, which may eventually pull prices down. I'd be interested to hear anyone elses experiences.

If I could find one of those private 06 cars you mentioned for $50K, I'd buy it! I'm looking for an 06/07 C2S. Willing to pay up to $60K for a perfect car, but would like low to mid 50's. Not having much luck, although I admit my standards are high. I'm easily scared off by cars with multiple owners, cars that sat a long time after an auction, etc.
I found a great privately owned car that I almost bought last week. Came down to a price negotiation and the seller wouldn't budge below $60K. When I finally decided to pull the trigger, he decided he was going to keep the car!!! Big let down. It was a beautiful car - 07 C2S (but sold in late 06) with full leather, sports chrono, nav, lots of appearance options, and only 12K on the odometer. But without CPO, price was a bit high. Needed new tires pretty soon.
Tough to find a good one right now. Lots of cars offered with CPO from 60-65K. Low mileage, good options, but bad carfax's.

I think the '07s are actually starting to be a better deal than the '06s now. The '07s keep dropping while the '05s and '06s have firmed. Case in point Jim Ellis just listed an '07 w/ 12k miles for $58.9:

No doubt. Sellers (mostly dealers as sellers, not PP) are holding firm asking way too much on the '06/'07 models.
However, used '09s I think are priced right, and dealers seem to be giving room on them. I just picked one up for not a whole lot more than was some dealers are asking (and holding firm on) for '07s. Also, new '09s are going for $15K-$20K off MSRP which is a great deal if it has the options and color you want.

My feeling is that ignore the asking price . Any offer is an offer. One can always walk. Advantage always goes to the buyer . Even if he walks .. he still has his savings .. and that's never a bad thing.
I started a thread similar to this a month ago...I started looking seriously and found an great deal in Nov...I got lucky as i timed it almost perfectly evidently...just dumb luck...you could buy a low mileage 06' C4S fully loaded for mid to high 50's 3-4 months ago...now its low to mid 60's for same exact car...and not many cars for sale either...its like sellers went into hibernation mode.
We are in a cyclical bull within a secular bear...the bear will show itself real soon imho....sellers will capitulate by summer.

Agree with the observation in general as I do use ebay a fair amount and also looking at negotiating on Autotrader prices. I did in fact find one that went for $52K - 2007 C2S at 17K, heavily optioned. That seemed to be a fair price.
