It is a thermal film and I didn’t realize how much heat it rejected until I drove someone else’s car on a really sunny day. The heat on my arm was annoying and I didn’t realize why until I remembered that I had the film on my car. If anyone would like to see pics let me know.
Where did you get it installed? I was wondering about exactly this thing - almost transparent thermal film. How much did it cost you to get?

i got pulled over the other day for "yellowing clear bra"!!!

i think Texas law requires the a sticker stating the darkness of the tint.

Could well be. California law requires... I think it said a "statement of the installer, or if self installed a document from the supplier stating the transmittance of the film used." Except they didn't say 'transmittance'.

Yellowing clear bra? Does it cover the lights too? Otherwise why ever would they care?

Gary, off to drive his p-car in the brilliant

Tint King http://www.tint-king.com/index.html

They do a great job and are very well recomended by tons of people (lots within the Subaru club).

It's not cheap as far a tint goes ($450) but its not really a tint and IMHO is WAY WAY better.

Plus Tint King warranty their work. Your window peels in a year...get it fixed for free.

There are various grades of tint on the market. We at Premier launched our Diamond Cut IR tint last year and it has been a very successful product. Here is a comparison on how well the tint works while staying very light:

As I'm driving to the police station to have my fix-a-ticket signed off after removing my window tint and I'm pulled over again for no tags. My temp tag is still valid of course, but it amazes me that I'm pulled over again and I haven't even driven the car since Sunday when I received the tint ticket. Unbelievable level of ticky tack bull**** going on in Northern CA police! I'm so happy I don't commute to work!!

That really sucks. They must be really desperate in San Mateo. I saw a show of force on Montague Expressway today too...

You can pay $200ish and not have to remove the tint!

Actually both times, I was not in San Mateo and I was stopped by Ponch from CHIPS (I'm dating myself with that remark)! California Highway Patrol in Burlingame the first time and Redwood City not far from the police station the second time.

Yes, but you'll probably just get caught again and face the same dilemma. Can be an expensive proposition to keep paying off the tickets.

Friend of mine had this problem, the cop got super angry at him as he tried to explain the law (My buddy is in 4th year Criminal Justice and has 2 years of Law under his belt). So he just took the ticket and went to court, where the judge just threw it away. Cops can't know every single law, but when they believe it to be illegal they have to ticket, thus why we have appeals.

it sucks to drive in norcal nowadays, it's like everytime i see a cop lurking, I will try to steer from them as far as possible coz I don't want to give them any BS excuses to pull me over. feels like i've committed a crime.

Tell me about it. lat week in Newport beach a friend's 15 year old (that's fifteen) got pulled over because he was riding on the handlebars of his friend's BICYCLE and got a $175 TICKET and has to show up in court!

What's next, babies in strollers getting ticketed for not wearing shoes?

Cali is getting so ridiculous.
