Tree branches / Scuffed paint
Tree branches / Scuffed paint
A small tree branch fell onto the hood and bounced over the top when I was driving the other day. It left a few scuffs on the q.panel & hood. The scratches don't appear to be down to the metal and are localized to two areas maybe a few sq inches - The fix will require more than a touch up pen.
Has anyone DIY a scratch removal? I suspect that porsche paint doesn't have as many layers as other cars, so I'm reluctant to just DIY something from autozone without first talking with others. Any suggestions on a product or process? (or recommend mobile paint repair service near boston)

I'm sorry to see that. I'm not a professional detailer but I would describe myself as a "serious hobbyist". I've been at it for about 30 years now and I'm very comfortable with a buffing wheel. In my opinion one of the best DIY products on the market right now is Meguiars Scratch X:

If you follow the instructions carefully you can't do any harm to the car. If that doesn't work you'll need to seek out a professional detailer in your area. I can't recommend anyone in the Boston area but I would suggest you do some serious homework before you let anyone touch it. There is no "time limit" here, the damage isn't going to get any worse as long as it's not down to bare metal and it doesn't look like it is. Take your time and find the right person who can do the job right.
If there are no dedicated detail shops in your area then you might want to contact a reputable body shop and see if they can hook you up with their guy. A reputable body shop should be able to recommend someone and some of the bigger ones have their own guy in-house. Good luck and I hope someone is able to buff that out for you.

Black or dark Porsche...if you can't run your fingers over it, Menzerna SIP + PO85RD using either a PC or Flex. No problem.
And for protection, get a clear bra installed. It'll save to the headache next time.

If you can catch the edge of the scratch with your fingernail, its too deep to just "rub out", and will probably require a respray of the area to repair the damage and blend the repaired area into the rest of the paint. DIY projects like this very seldom result in a satisfactory repair and eventually end up in the shop for professional work.

If u r considering a respray.....shoot some pics of the damage to justify it at resale point. It will sit well with your potential buyer down the road
