E63 AMG or M5?
I've had 2 AMG's (CLK55 and C55) and loved them, but just be ready to drop a lot of money on the AMG, as they depreciate very quickly. You won't be breaking even on that one, unless you get a killer deal on a used one in which case you'll lose a little less.
While I miss the raw torque of the V8's in the AMG's, I still love my C2S as a DD. What it lacks in raw power and torque, it makes up for in fun factor.

Then wait. Keep the savings and just drive the daily driver . When you can buy the Turbo then you'll be ready and by then the entire car might be redesigned . Leave some room to modify the Turbo too. It's the one Porsche that needs mods the most to bring the car to a completely new level.
A very close friend of mine had owned both cars. E63 first then M5.
His comment was E63 was more comfortable he felt better.
M5 was really fast but then very thirsty.
He sold both cars but in fact now he wants buy E63 again!
I thought this opinion might help~

New F10M5 renderings look pretty damn nice. IMO a better design than the E60.
Note -- you do know that your E92M3 is a Bangle designed car as well, correct?
OP - did you ever consider a CLK63 AMG Black Series? Wouldn't be my first choice for a DD but it sounds like your 997 Cab was a DD and this car would be even more functional than that.

You're not a mess -- just an enthusiast
I'm biased here, because I want you to buy my KLEEMANN C63. Here's why:
* Both the E63 and M5 are due for new engines -- both presumed to be FI
* Both of these cars are bloated and as someone said, have very little engagement with the road (I had a 2010 E63 on order, drove it when it arrived, but did not take delivery because of this reason).
* These cars will continue to drop like bolders in terms of depreciation
Now, the C63 (especially with the KLEEMANN K2 package) is the best of both worlds between the speed/handling of a Porsche Turbo and the comfort of a DD with 4 doors. I know, because I had an '09 Turbo along with my C63 and my C63 beat the stock Turbo.
Even if I was not trying to sell my C63, I think this car will suit you very well. Perhaps you may consider test driving a C63 in your area and let me know what you think. Mine will be much faster and will sound better (and a heck of a lot less expensive than new).
Good luck with your hunt!

I went through the same thing last year at the same time. I even drove the ISF. The engine on the MB is amazing but the transmission doesn't do it justice - you probably need to go with the Black series to get everything out of it. The other 2 were ok, but....I bought a porsche
.
.
Had the same decision however, I kept the 911 added the E63. E63 was the more comfortable car and it was the hands down better DD. To be honest, I prefered the interior of the M5 (crazy I know) but I felt it was more intuitive then the M5 even with its crapdrive.
At the end of the day, I drove it but got tired of it and sold it after 9 months. Now in a GTS which I LOVE!

Don't buy either - both cars moving on to turbo motors and Dual-Clutch boxes and/or 8-speed autos. If you must pick one though, the E63 will be much easier to live with (torque + auto tranny), while the M5 will be much more fun to drive (8K rpm na V10 and smg). When I'm sitting in traffic, I wish I had chosen the E63 - but when I'm playing, I'm glad I have the M5.
My suggestion would be the new 550i. The motor is pushing over 600hp with a chip and exhaust, and will have an 8-speed auto. Comfy, a big set of *****, uses half the gas of the M5, and will likely have better feel than the E63 if you get the sport pack.

Bought a new AMG a few years ago and couldn't believe how fast it depreciated. I'd buy an AMG again (it was a great car), just not new.
Hate the look of the M5.
Give a Panamera any thoughts?

M5 is going to be replaced soon. E63 is great for a DD but it's expensive and prices will drop like a brick in a year (AMG's always do). Like everyone else said, hang in there for the 911 Turbo. It's worth it.
If you had to choose one, I'd say E63, but remember that this will be replaced soon also by a V8TT.

spilled milk.. but u should have kept ur Pcar if u were gonna consider m5 or e63 as a replacement, IMO..
-u got a good enough deal that even if u kept it for another two years, u would not have taken a big depreciation hit when u sell it..
-if u weren't happy with ur 4CS cab.. u prob will not be happy with the two cars u r looking at.. unless all u r looking for is a decent drag times..
-if u can realistically consider leasing a 911 for 2 years (relatively high pymt), u can prob swing a payment on a traditional finance for a 07-08 TT.. or even a 09-10 TT with a some money down, if u want the PDK..
-lease a prius for $300-400 for two years for DD..
.. and save ur money for a TT , if money is tight right now.
my 2cents

Ive had AMGs (G55,E55) and still have an AMG (S63), when it comes to sedans I dont think other car companies (bmw/m) (audi/s) can hang with the AMGs as far as power goes ... E63 ALL DAY
Thanks for all the replies.
Wish I could but my business doesnt allow me to drive it everyday. REO Realtor knockin on doors of fresh repos can be a lil sketchy at times. My Sierra Denali works better-plus its easier to get to my baseball bat .
I think I am going to try to be patient for a 9-10 TT.
Worst case I'll get another 997.2 4S or 2S for a year or 2. My dealer just called & offered me a nicely equipped 09 105kmsrp C4S 6 speed coupe for 80k w/ 2k miles.
Whatever it is, I'd like to try some track days out here at Willow.-45 mins away.
Switching gears & I know beat to death but,
For those with PDK that have run at the track, how would it compare to the manual. I was hell bent on a manual, but with the paddle wheel from the TT now available for the 997.2, not so sure.
Opinions?
