E63 AMG or M5?

Im posting this here cause it may be a while before I can swing a TT & just came out of 09 4S Cab.

I'm considering more of a DD for the next year or so & one of these 2 would work. Drove an AMG E63 today & it was impressive. Espcially the seat massager & roller when u turn.
Haven't driven an M yet, maybe this week, but wife has had 4 consecutive 5 series until 2 years ago, so Im familar with the non M 5's.
Is the 5 due for a makeover?
Other than free maintainance on the M, give me some pros & cons.
In the canyon (I drive one every day), which is closer to the feeling I get when drivin a Porsche, if either.

Or should I just shiitcan this idea & get another 997.2 until I can swing the TT?

I went through this 1.5 years ago. I looked at both the C 63 and the E63 and the M5 and M3. The M3 still had single pot calipers and didnt come out with Brembos till the next year. I thought the AMG was a better car. But youre doing right by driving them both. I think the E63 will have more goodies and the Auto tranny in the AMG was better. I think the M5 is an older design. But with the new 5 series coming out it could be all new.
I think youre better with the E63, and I have a 335i and a X5 4.8iS

Over all though a 997.2PDK would be the home run!!

Neither . The M5 is a bloated Bangled gas guzzling monstrosity with flimsy interior and the E63 lacks the road feel of anything Porsche or BMW has to offer. If you had an 09 C4S cab --why did you sell it to move in this direction ?

F10 5 Series is just coming out replacing the E60. M5 will follow, but will be a wait.

If I had no other choice but these two cars, I would take the E63.

Mainly cause I have issues;

Bought the 4s as a weekender-Settled instead of buying a tt just to get into my 1st Pcar-after the honeymoon was over, was yearning for more power-
Got a killer deal-22% off, then sold out of it almost breaking even to angle for the TT-worried the loss w/b greater if I didnt.

Waiting patiently for an 09 to get closer to 100k or better as I must have the newer PCM, xm, Btooth, etc after the owning the 997.2

Or just get a smokin deal on an 07 & upgrade to after market Nav deck & LED rear tails & bumper/mod the snot out it...

Or ditching my daily driver & payment to make the 997.2 TT my DD but I just cant justify a buck fifty....

Also thinking of just leasing a 997.2 S for 2 years until the 997.2 TT preowneds come around @ lower price.

As you see the Turbo is the final destination here.

Or maybe a GT3?

I'm a mess.

When in doubt .. I usually say the best thing to do is NOTHING .
It's better to have the money saved and have no car at all than to spend it and buy the wrong car .

As of now .. you have this cab at a price that only comes once in a lifetime. You may as well get all the use out of it.

The new Turbo will cost more than 150 . First you's have to wait for the Turbo "s" --it will have more Hp and nicer options. The PDK mated with the Turbo is the IDEAL combination as the boost is maintained upon shifting and PDK does it better than than a driver even withy more Hp on the car. Then the Turbo will be redesigned along with the entire 997 line up. You've got to wait !!!!!!

If you want a big 4 door like the cars you mention --it's really the Panamera Turbo.

As for the Gt3 --different car . In fact I even wonder if 2011 is going to have production because I have yet to hear of anyone ordering a Gt3 other than the RS. I also think the Gt3 is the last pure 997 but it may become dated . I wrestled with the Gt3 purschase too --but won't buy it.

Save the money --drive the car you have-- A new 4S cab is NOT suffering . In fact the 4S cab PLUS the money saved if you follow my suggestion to wait .. is as close to Porsche bliss as one can get --unless ytou already sold it .. then I would still say wait.

Just my .02

Here is the deal just my thoughts on what you are doing. I am not going to try to talk you out of the car but given your situation and my experience you should get a 997.2S with PDK. Thats the best bet for what you are talking about. I have had a TT, and 2 GT3s. The new 997.2 C2S with PDK is amongst the best cars in the whole group you are talking about. I think its wise to stand pat with that car while you are waiting to see what happens with the others. It will not leave you wanting for power and its just a fine all arounder that will satisfy you until you see what is going on else where.
My situation is the opposite, I went through all those cars and I had a 08 GT3RS lined up next and after I drove the 997.2 C2S it was all over. I think its my last Porsche
(not including a cayenne maybe later)
I think thats the way to go.

The 09 is gone-sold it after I realized I really wanted a Turbo and could get out of it w/out a big loss only months ater I bought it.

honestly, I love the new e63...and I had an e60 m5. I think the new e63 could be one of the best cars on the road for overall EVERYTHING. That trans is insane too...wish my black series had that...

I cant believe you sold a 2009 C4S cab to consider an M5 or E63. You got a smoking deal and would not have taken a big hit. Prices have firmed. My car is almost worth what I paid for it 7 months ago. When has that ever happened. People are paying $60K for 2007's C2S - so not a big hit 3 years alter.

If you buy a E63 or M5 you WILL lose serious cash. Go and look at classified ads for a 2007/8 M5 and you will see what I mean. If you want a TT in 2 years and want to just kill time - DO NOT BUY EITHER of those cars unless you want to lose a packet.

I'd buy a second hand anything - 2 years old that has taken the hit and ride it out. The high end cars (M5's, E63's, 7 series) - lose serious money. Buy a 335 or Audi S4 and wait. They're OK cars to spend 2 years in.
