E63 AMG or M5?
Evidently the 2010 TT is an absolute beast. It is kicking the crap out of everything with the new PDK, increased HP and 3.8 engine (0-60 in 2.9-3.3 secs.... 0-100 in 6.8) - Car&Driver!!!!!!!. As you can tell by my sig I have an E63 and a C4S. Love both cars b/c they are different. I have commented on here that I LOVE my E63 and it is my DD. I looked at M5 (came from M3) and am more pleased w/ MB for daily use. My suggestion is to get a used E63 for a daily driver, and save for a 2010 TT. Buy it used in 1 or 2 years. I plan on getting the last 997 TT once the new body style turbo comes out (unless the 998 TT is frickin' awesome, then I'll get one of those :-)

For those with PDK that have run at the track, how would it compare to the manual. I was hell bent on a manual, but with the paddle wheel from the TT now available for the 997.2, not so sure.
I don't like the OEM paddles though --I prefer the champion paddles as they retain the steering wheel multi function buttons . OEM doesn't.
I am not sure that the new TT needs modifying-its that good.
Any speculations how much shaving tenths in the quarter mile will cost?
That's a bold statement considering the times the stock is putting down compared the supercars of yesteryear. 2.9s to 60 is simply amazing.

The EVT700 claims the same 2.9 seconds to 60 .http://www.evoms.com/evo/Pages/EVT700INFO.asp
But lets look at the midrange of tuning where stock turbos are quick .. BUT not like this. Not even close !!!!
PDK is a nice improvement at cutting down time but what a tuned Turbo can do in terms of performance gains is astounding.
A stock Turbo is certainly a nice car . It's a little quiet though and most owners do at least the exhaust .
What I found the MOST improvement is how the modified Turbos simply do not let off . The acceleration is more linear , seamless , and pulls hard in the gear. The stock Turbo does not.
Theoretically one does not even need a base 997 to drive daily but most buy these cars because they are specifically designed with performance in mind .
So --why get only half aTurbo .. when there's more potential . Even if one never uses it .. why not create the most out of the car ?
Good point but the OEM does have the launch indicator & is a very good looking wheel.
Have any pix of the champion setup? Cost?
Sure --I'll bite .

The TT doesnt NEED Mods. You CAN mod it and thats one of the great things about the TT
you can make it whatever kind of car you want by mods.
By itself the TT is a great supercar. One way do do it is leave it stock till stuff
needs fixing THEN mod it. Lots of choices with that car!

Adding the upgrades to a used Turbo would still bring the price lower than a new Turbo . It depends what upgrades one selects.
I bought an M5 as a DD, and have a 997 S as a sunday item. imo, i LOVE my M5. I dont know why the other guy said the interior is flimsy, its on the most well crafted interiors on the market feels like your sitting at home with the design, and not to many buttons everywhere. The feel and power of the car is amazing its such a beast i stopped driving my 997 S for about to months because it makes my porsche feel slow. The only reason i would say to take an E63 over an M5 as a DD is because of the auto tranny, Other than that the M5 kicks the E63 in any other aspect, (except 0-60) i raced plenty of E63's and on the highway my ///M pulls 2 car lengths on em.if you want a well crafted beautifully styled car go with the M you will not be disappointed. Gas cost for me is about $30 a day if your concerned about gas none of these cars are for you.
And if you get an M5 make sure you get the active bulsters, KEY item.
