New C2S or older 911TT?

I recently sold my Cayman S and am considering 2 different cars. One is a well optioned low mileage (6K) 2007 911TT in the 95K range. Or, for around the same price, I can purchase a brand new Carrera S. I am actually torn between the two...any insight or opinions? Thanks!

I without hesitation would pick the Turbo .

Depending on where you post this question (on the Turbo forum or the 997 forum) may give a variety of replies . I have both cars though and love both . Still would pick the Turbo.

Some normally aspirated afficianadoes might argue that "at the track ..... in tight corners .. the normally aspirated car is king " . Yet at the Ring .. the Turbo seems to disprove some of that --- which means that it depends on which track , and whose driving it.

The things I see with the C2S over the Turbo is the updated PCM ,the narrow body is less exposed to dings, the front lip is higher, plus it's a more anonymous vehicle. Other than those features .. the Turbo has it all over the C2S from its Gt1 engine , to its massive power , to its modding potential, to is overall comfort.

Even though a C2S is light and nimble the Turbo is far from a wimp in turns. A little suspension tweak, sotware, and exhaust and it's quite a car even at this basic level.

The Turbo seems to get no love . It's been called "Lexus like" or considered more like a luxury power car . It seems like there is a hard core driver enthusiast perceptual bias towards the car and maybe that's out of frustration that the Turbo can beat them in the most simplistic race and challenge them in any race.

I have a C2S with X51, even though it's not a DFI one, but still would get a Turbo specially one with the GT1 motor and if it's an '07 for I'd be getting a car with a substantial depreciation hit taken by the original owner whereas, if I bought a brand new C2S, that depreciation would be borne by me.

An older Turbo (if 2 or 3 years can be considered old) gives you much more of a car than a brand new C2S for similar money. I am not biased as I have a C2S and love it but, where I in this situation, I wouldn't think about it twice. Add a CPO and you get 100k miles and an extra 2 years warranty that would make an '07 covered until 2012 or 2013 depending on when the car was first delivered.

Well, it's always good to get people's perspectives to help challenge your own. Of course ultimately this is a personal decision to fit your needs and style.

I respect the Turbo. But for me, there was not enough driver engagement and connection. I have a lot more fun and enjoyment from my modded 997.2S than I did with my modded Turbo.

A new C2S with PDK would be great. IF you decide to sell it though, you would likely lose a boatload on the depreciation-great for the next buyer though. I think it really comes down to how long you plan on keeping the car.

On the TT you are considering, someone has already taken the hit so you are getting a better deal than buying new.

Drive both and see how the new C2S with PDK compares to the older TT. You might just be surprised at what you decide.

I have driven all the TTs since the 993. THe C2S is the greatest car i have ever had.
YOu wont be lacking power. WIth PDK it is extremely quick. With the looks of a sleeper.
the TT is a great car no doubt but you should be able to get a PDK C2S for $20K less?

i'm surprised someone could actually be undecided between a 997TT and 997 C2s

but on the other hand i can understand; before buying my c2s i test drove a 996TT and wasnt impressed at all, besides the power. But the 997TT ? It's not supposed to be THE best TT ever ?

Don't you have more of the raw sporty feeling with the 997TT than 996TT ?

I went through this same issue 2 months ago. Was anticipating buying a 2S cab with PDF. Test drove a 2S with PDK and didn't like it at all. Drove a cab and didn't like that. Drove a tt and loved it. After the tt the NA felt slow and had nothing down low. Bought a used 07tt for a little less than your number, loaded. Took it to TPC and they put in a full suspension kit and a dyno tune (514 rwhp).

Great car, I love torque and nothing comes close.

Really interesting to read all the replies.

I like the idea of the NA car, updated interior, touchscreen NAV, direct injection, etc. and I would think it would be plenty fast. I was quite pleased with my Cayman S. There are times where I did wish for a little more "grunt" but overall, the Cayman S was a blast to drive and the Carrera S would probably deliver that little more "grunt" I was looking for.

On the other hand, the used 07 TTs seems like a bargain now that they have depreciated for a couple years and I love the look of the intake vents on the rear fenders, wing, and of course the turbos!!! Hmmmmm....

They're really 2 very different cars that give the driver very different experences. Why not do what I did -- buy one, drive it until you tire of it, then sell and buy the other. Sometimes it's more about the experience and the journey through these cars than 1 being your final destination.

On the other hand, some people (perhaps many) settle on one car and keep that for a long while. Maybe that would be you.

Just go with what you gut is telling you. I don't think you can make a wrong decision here.

I own a 997.2 C4S with PDK and absolutely love the car. I put a TUBI full exhaust system and everybody who hears the car likes it. 2 friends of mine constantly tell me to let them know once I sell my car

Before buying it, I test drove a 996TT MT extensively and in the end I didn't like it

I have not driven a 997.1TT, but have read only bad reviews about it: too soft, too cilized, too quiet, if Tiptronic the manual shifts are too slow, etc.. Off course, the aftermarket is there and you can spend some nice $ and make it more driver involving

I also had the chance to test drive a 997.2 GT3 2 weeks ago and I immediately loved it !

My Pcar is not my DD. I will drive my 997.2 C4S PDK for 1-2 years more and then get a GT3

Confusing ? Yes ! Why ? Because everybody has a different point of view and different "need" for Porsches

Test drive all your options and then take your decission. You will buy the car, so you should be sure and comfortable with what you are doing
