new car - wheel question

buying a new 2010 997 s..whatever wheels come on the car is what im getting

i want new rims and possibly 20s

should i take the opriginals off before they have ever been driven on and use them to trade in (if they do that) or try to sell them.

if they dont command good money then maybe ill drive on them until the tires are gone and then replace the whole set.

thoughts or recommendations?

i like black rims since im getting a black car

might also get champion RS97

Use the 'search' button liberally for this topic. There are a lot of discussions and controversy on 20" wheels. Re resale, whether unused or lightly used, most OEM wheels do not bring much return. So either way, you're going to be paying a significant 'net' to swap wheels.
FWIW, there are often very nice wheels on the 'parts for sale' section of this forum. I have bought many used parts on-line here and virtually all sellers are fair, knowledgeable and reasonable. So it might be the best place to start.
GL on the new ride.

you will get your car with 19" rims so best choice is to get good forged 18" rims 9" wide fronts 12" wide rears.
If it does not seem right now in some time you will see why, especially if you`ll start tracking your car.

Keep the stockers. Run the new rims while you have the car and then sell them later. Pop the stockers back on for when you sell. Modded rims at very low cost to you...

I would agree with this statement. I like 20s if you're not tracking the car. The popular ones that look good are the HREs and they make black. I'm not sure how long tires can be stored, but you can do a search. Maybe sell the tires and keep the rims in storage.

The best wheels for the 997 are 18". Second best are the 19s that will come with your S. Dozens of threads on the issues with 20s will be found with the search function. Basically, 19s are a reasonable compromise and I keep my stock wheels / tires for the street and use forged 18s on the track.
