I am not debating the 997.2 point. I drove a PDK S and it was fantastic. The .1 S is not match for a 996GT3. I had friends with modded 05's that could not come close to keeping up with my stock 996 Gt3.

I believe you Luis, The PDK is totally out of this world, and it kept me from buying a nearly new 98 RS.
The 996 GT3 is a great car and a better choice than the 997.1 C2S BUT the 997 might be a better daily. I didnt drive any of my GT3s or TTs daily. I DO drive the PDK daily.

Going to Sport mode stiffens up the suspension and sharpens the shifts. That was more akin to the 993TT with all the suspension setup I had (PSS9s etc etc)
BUT put it in Sports PLUS mode and LOOK OUT. Its very GT3 like minus the wonderful sound. It gets really stiff -the motor wont shift till redline so you better know what your doing. Just like the 996 GT3. I remember the first time on the track with the GT3 after lots of laps at the same track with the 993TT. I NEVER spun in the TT, but the first time I got out of sorts on a quick right hand, left hand, right hand, off camber I spun. Not only that I spun again in the next lap sequence, it only takes a split second and the GT3 doesnt suffer fools. Its a great car, maybe better over all for the track than the 997.1 GT3.
The 997.2 in Sports plus is VERY aggressive. It so reminds me of the 996 GT3.
Thank you. That's a very informative comparison and it satisfies the curiosity I had about these model relationships changing over time.

When we were choosing our C2S, I did not pay attention to the Sports options, especially the Sports Chrono Plus, and I've come to regret that. The circumstances weren't good since our daily driver NSX had been wrecked by someone and we were puttering around in a rental car looking for any good and satisfying choice to get into. SCP just looked like a stopwatch and the salesman wasn't useful. Of course, I admit we misled him because we made it clear to the sales manager before we arrived for our appointment that we planned to spend fifty, maybe sixty thousand tops -- out the door -- either with him or the Audi group next door or the Mercedes guys down the street. "Give us your best shot on that basis." The wonder is that he talked me into driving a 997.2 at all since I was in no mood to think about "wonderful exciting great new designs." I just wanted to get out of there and get back to planning vengeance on the dastardly destroyers of Cindy's NSX.

Over the last four months, I have come to be very grateful that we were so fortunate as to forget the silly "we're old now and don't need an expensive car" price limit and pick this fine car we did. Grateful, but also wistful that I was in no mood to savor the alternatives. Might well have ended up with the SCP and the PDK and a couple of lesser options. ADias and you have convinced me I would have enjoyed the decision process even if I ultimately chose 'only' the dot two S we came home in that day.

The sport exhaust is one of those 'lesser' options I would have seriously considered had circumstances been better. I was admiring an '07 S with that and the aero kit this weekend at a gathering. Lovely exhaust note when the valve is opened. I wouldn't want it all the time though, so the PSE is a great way to have your blat and eat it too. Something like that anyway...

You bought a great car.
