Teaching them young, just a silly post
I have a two yr old son, and ever day when we arrive home we have a routine. He gets out of the back seat and drives Daddy around the block. I'm actually forbidden to touch the wheel and we make one rotation around the block. He has not discovered the buttons to shift
I think I have the next formula one driver on my hands.

although this is totally my fault because he did not have much of a choice on being a car guy

just a silly thread but I love that he shares my passion

I drive similarly with my son on our private driveway- and there alone.
When you say you drive around "the block" I assume it's a private (yours only) road, othwise, could be risky?
Some of my most cherished memories are of my Dad putting me on his lap to steer his old Plymouth Volare.

My lady actually forced me to get my porsche.
She said you hate the weekends because you have to drive a family car, so you are going to get a family car you like. Now that is a good woman
nothing silly at all...one of the earliest childhood memories I have is sitting on my dads lap as he let me steer his car in the empty parking lot nextdoor....very

If not, I politely urge you to rethink this practice. I know you'd never intentionally put your son in harms way, but on the open road, things happen outside of your control.

after all he is only 21 months old. The gas pedal and the open road are at least a few yrs away. He is already showing a preference for P cars over every thing else. Now if only the new GT 3 could be a 3 seater
When I was growing up and to this day my Dad and I have always shared a love of cars. At a very young age I would stand out in the garage for hours handing my Dad tools as he worked on his car projects. And what a blessing it is as my 4 year old son just spent the evening with me putting a new shifter in my car. He was so into it. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
my lady refuses the mini van
So I wont be having that issue although she is pushing me really hard to get her a stupid range rover sport, which mean the boxster spyder is out because the car fund will be go LOL.
Good stuff. Where did you get your baby seat from?
its a Porsche OEM car seat.
Works pretty well. I love when Valets take the car and look at me like I'm crazy with the car seat in the back. I tell them its my sons car he just lets me drive it.
thats pretty funny!
when I was 11, My dad let me drive to the bakery early one Sunday morning. We lived in a small town and it was in our 1981 dodge omni. It was all back roads except for one left hand turn at a set of lights. Sure enough as I'm making the left on the advance green there is a police cruiser at the lights on the other side of the road. I made the turn without incident but I think my dad almost soiled himself. Just this past weekend we laughed about that very incident.
If ever you can take an opportunity to share a memory with a loved one you will never regret it. I can't wait for our first track day together.
