Painting exhaust tips
I've done both the Paint and Ceramic coating options in the past, and although everyone always warns against the "high heat and rock chips" that the paint option is bound to encounter, I never had any problems with it for 2+ years. It's just like painting anything else though, 90% of the job is in the prep work... as Brian said you'll need to key the chrome to give the paint something to grab onto. Step up to lighter-grit sand paper as you go to get a completely smooth finish with your last coat. It's pretty simple and should anything ever bang it up you can touch it up at home instead of having it re-blasted. Either way seems to work just fine in my experience.
Good luck..

I powder coated mine and it looks great. I was initially concerned with the heat build up in that area. After several drives and checking the temp of the tips, I never reached a temp that was near the flow temp of the powder.
