Help with my Nav/radio

I got in my car today after not driving for a week or so and started my car. Much to my surprise my pcm screen notified me that there was an error with the nav and it was not available. Also my radio won't work. The screen lights up and shows the radio info and all the rest of the data, but if I push the nav button or map button than I am told it is not available. I tried turning the car off and on again but that did nothing. I also checked the fuses and they are ok. The nav disc did eject ok and I was able to feed it back in.

Any ideas?

Funny, my warranty ran out 3 months ago.

Any extras that could interfere, Dension or anything else on the most chain?
I Forgot the PCM reset code Number to try.
Could try pulling fuses.

I get this every now and then. Just happened the other day, in fact. I turned the PCM off, turned the car off, took the key out and waited 60 seconds, and then it worked.

usually error and no available message pops up if optical ring is broken somewhere. I get that sometimes when my mobridge decides to reboot but usually it comes back.
it should not be related to the fact that car was not moving but who knows. Try to charge battery fully and check it again, if it will remain like this - disconnect battery completely for 5 min at least and then connect it back and check what PCM will show when you press main+trip buttons together (i hope I remember it correctly - it should show versions of all connected components there). if it does not show NAV there and only PCM main unit - that means there is no connectivity - try to check first all connections at the back of DVD unit then follow it all the way down.

It is unlikely PCM itself died, most likely it should be connections.

I do have the dension unit in the system. In order to remove it the glove box would have to be removed. Is there a way to get it to reboot or does it need to be taken out of the loop? Is disconnecting the battery a way to get the system to reset itself? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I noticed in your sig you have the softronic ecu flash. How do you like it. I have it too and noticed some spark knocking on full acceleration, say 3000 to 6000 rpm in second gear . I now have 3 different versions of it and don't know which to use. Have you ever noticed any spark knocking in your car.

Good, glad that worked!
Check seat heaters for function.

Why Larry? Are they tied to the pcm?

If battery cable was off too long the heated seats don't work and the sport chrono light stays on along with other things and you need the "handover procedure" to reinitialize them in the PCM.
Probably only happens when the battery is off for a while, but just thought I'd mention it!
It happened to me when my battery died, a while back.

I will check later in the 90 degree weather, lol. What is the handover procedure?

On another note, want to try the track? It is great fun.

Nope and I ran it quite hard. Only knocking I ever had was hydraulic valve lifter after auto-x runs on dry pavement - but I got 15-50 oil now and x51 oil pan to remedy that.

Softronic so far was perfect. Consult with vividracing or directly with softronic folks - they are very helpful. To find out knocking reason you need durametric most likely so you could collect data while running...

In my case when I got my car I did complete overhaul - I had timing issues originally which I found on first dyno run I did so I replaced spark plugs, cleaned MAF sensor, replaced air filters, cleaned throttle body completely, installed new metal plenum and changed exhaust - after that it all runs like a good old Swiss time piece.

Incorrect.
I kept my battery off for whole night - and it never did anything bad.

I think that issue happens if battery slowly (very slowly) depletes while connected - ECUs probably loose their mind during this process and those functions disappear. But if you simply unplug your battery - nothing breaks. All you get is a simple error message related to stability management when you start driving your car and it goes away by itself.

The track is a possibility. Depends where I will be and when!
Handover is done when loss of power deactivates functions, such as seat heaters, homelink, sport chrono reverts to light on all the time, in effect, a default mode for shipping.
Yes, most often happens with longer term battery death.
I've become paranoid because of this.
