A Question of Timing

have an April build slot for a 997S with delivery in probably early June. Perfect! Except someone pointed out that I was at that point only a couple of months from the factory shutdown, possible upgrades and an 06 model year designation.

Sooo...

Should I stick with Plan A above and get my April build?

Or go for Plan B and wait for an August September build and run an old Boxster for the summer?

Another perspective; it's a long time on Boot Hill, go for it.

My dad had a similar decision with an Aston and decided to wait for the 06...
Knowing Porsche I would wait too as they usually add more options in later years

Prices of Porsches in the US are being kept artificially low despite the current US Dollar/Euro parity. My local dealer is selling & shipping Cayennes back to Norway because of this discrepency. There is no guaranty that current Porsche prices will remain at this level going forward into the MY06, even though Porsche claims to hold currency hedges to carry them through 2008. What you may gain on resale value on an 06 compared to an 05 you may lose on a possible up front price increase of an 06 compared to an 05.

I don't know. I might have to disagree. If the currency was such a big hoot then why are they going to sell the new boxster for about the same price with more options than the comparable 04? They could have easily justified the cost increase?

Plus, people aren't really happy about the new 997c2s prices. If the car was 10k less about 70k, people would have been all over it.

How is your dealer shipping car back to Norway? which shipper are they using? i would like to bring a 69 MB 250se convertible from Germany.

My 2 cents.

Plan B? Might as well for Plan C then. Rumors have it more changes are to come on 97 as there is speculation of 998. There is no guarantee we will live tomorrow, so enjoy the momento.
