Smile For the experts, from a newbie...

By Monday the 19th, I should be living out my childhood (and now middle-aged) dream of owning a 911. If all goes well, an '06 C4S should be arriving at my house late that afternoon.

The car has about 26K miles and looks clean. It's CPOd and was a one owner car, bought originally from the dealer selling it to me. It's got some sweet options and I'm having a Tooki installed so I can use my phone in it, but I'm most excited about its X51 option. The salesman has been cool and sent me videos of the car, including the sound of its SICK exhaust. I think I'll be in rorty exhaust nirvana when I first hear it live.

My questions for anyone here: Anything to worry about with the X51 or special things to look out for? Oil and fluid change frequency (yes I can search these...)Any general recommendations to a first time Porsche owner? Yes, I realize these are very broad questions, but I'm basically giddy with anticipation.

I've done my due diligence and feel the deal I'm getting is reasonable. I notice on this forum that prices are often discussed, unlike other forums in which I participate (namely watches) where price discussions are somewhat taboo. I have no problems with these posts and learn much from them, but price variability does exist even with similar cars from different model years.

Anyway, greetings to all and thanks ahead of time. I enjoy reading your posts and look forward to learning from you over the coming months and years.

The only worry that i can think of is how to stop smiling after driving it and how to rationalize spending more money to buy new Porsches in your future.

Congrats on the car and welcome .
The X51 is quite a unique and terrific machine.

congrats on the new toy

you will love it. I also do a ton of watch surfing and find it odd that price is so taboo considering most of the watches we talk about could cover the cost of a new Porsche. Enjoy the new ride

You haven't spent 5K on wheels yet. That's when it begins.

You're going to love the X51. Nothing to worry about as it was meant to be driven. Opinions differ on oil changes, but drive it hard and change the oil every 5-7K or at least once a year and you're covered. Enjoy!

A well cared for Porsche is nearly bullet proof. If you wanted to, you could enjoy this car for the next 20+ years and still drive it hard.

A big congratulations to you!

+1, these cars love to be driven, and the more you drive it the better it will run. I have a friend with a 993 that has over a 120K miles, and it runs like new, and he drives it hard every time.

Enjoy!

There's quite a few volunteers who would be willing to an in-car evaluation for you to help answer those questions ;-)

Seriously, I'm still waiting to drive a X51 equipped car just to see the difference. Enjoy in good health!

Please be weary of the well-known problem on all Porsche 911 models that was discussed on a previous thread... Sudden intended acceleration. There is no known fix to this problem. I believe all of us on this forum suffer from this horrible defect on our vehicles.
