I sincerely apologize for hijacking the thread, but who (or which insurance companies) does cover for the damages on the track?

 

You'd have to do a search here and maybe over at RennList for "track insurance" to find dozens of threads with names of companies. Standard policies depend on what state you are in. Some states are strict where the insurance companies cannot simply add new exclusions to the policy - those are probably the places where your standard policy covers any incidents at DE. Others now exclude anything and everything that happens at a track - I could even see one of these companies deny coverage if you went to a DE just to watch and got into a fender bender in the parking lot. If you are a member of PCA you just got your latest Pano magazine and there's an ad for the PCA DE insurance program (with added discount for PCA membership).

 

I vote for using cat bypass pipes. A spark plug defouler will often serve as a mechanical o2 fix by keeping the sensor directly out of the exhaust stream. Cannot remember if this works on 997 cats. If your state does emissions testing this will not pass the smell test but if they only check for OBD codes you should be ok if you trick the o2 in a manner similar to the above.
