im using my iphone..i press maps button or any other function. I can not return to a list of tracks or play lists without changing to tuner and reselecting ipod

There must be a way to return to track/play lists after looking at the map or whatever..

Press "Disc". I think that should do it for you, providing there's no CD in the PCM.
