How to remove CF headlight cover

I was wondering is it easy to remove the CF rim that was attached with black silicone from the headlight itself? Any damage to the headlight or it needs to buffed once the rim is removed? Or is there any liquid solution that can be applied while removal? Thanks!

There's carbon fiber in the headlight assembly?

I mean how to remove this, Rottec's piece, do you have any idea? I prefer not breaking them but it seems thats the way to go. Any liquids involved upon removal ?

IMO I wouuld start the leading edge with a razorblade. I dont believe that a solvent is made to break down the silicone. GL

geestyleed is infamous around these parts
Mh Silicone makes it a bit more difficult. Perhaps with a head gun and than with a razor blade? This normally works with double sided tape. I thought the headlights were attached with tape..

DSR-5 Silicone & Adhesive remover supposedly can be used to break the silicone seal and can be used to remove any residue. It reportedly is safe to use on all types of surfaces without damage. If you don't feel comfortable using it to break the initial seal, try using a length of high tensile strength fishing line to "saw" through the silicone then use the DSR-5 to wipe of any residue. I have no experience with this product; just repeating what the company says about their product.

Do not use a razor blade unless you're OK with cut up headlight lenses. Use a heat gun, or hair dryer, and a plastic prying instrument of some kind. I'd get yourself a set of plastic pry bars, the ones used to remove interior trim and fragile moldings. Auto zone or Pep Boys should have 'em. You want to use something that won't scratch the headlight lense. Heat an area of the trim ring and gentle pry it up with the plastic tool after you've wiggled it under the ring. Work your way around the ring until you can remove it. Then use GooGone, or equivalent, to remove any left over adhesive.
