Do you guys change your oil and brake fluid after every DE?

 

Nope, I do oil every year, and the brake fluid as it is needed. Both are easy DIY jobs with the right tools.

 

You will want to do a brake fluid change before every DE. It is not necessary to change oil before a DE.

 

I have to say that it depends on your maintenance habbits.

If you track the car regularly, you should be changing the oil more frequently than the manufacturer recommends. (Porsche 15,000 mile recc is a joke) I think that every 8,000 miles is reasonable for a moderately hard driven car.

Brake fluid should be changed before every event. As far as I'm concerned, it's an expense of going to the track. I would also recommend having the brakes bled by a facility with the tools to activate the abs pump every 2 years.

 

No and No. I do about 12 track days a year in Black / Red (Advanced / Instructor). I change the oil before my 1st DE of the year and same with brake fluid (Castrol SRF). I have zero issues and the 7000 miles a year I drive the car is more than reasonable even given the exercise on the track. That's the beauty of SRF - flush it once a year, no need to worry because it's that good.

 

My PCA region only asks for the brake fluid to have been changed within the last year.

When I used lesser fluid (ie: ATE 200 - same as blue but without the nasty dye) I had to bleed / flush often. And it still couldn't keep up. When I switched years ago to Castrol SRF (ultra-high dry and wet boiling points) it held up event after event. $74 a bottle, but well worth it because now I don't have to bleed / flush many times a year.

 

I've just been reading up on SRF and think I'll switch to it next flush. Just need to find some here in Canada.

I've been changing oil/Porsche brake fluid once a year for seasonal driving and about 6 DE days. Haven't had any issues on road or track. Just wondering if I was doing it right.

 

I've been using Motul RBF 660, it's been good for the last couple of events (4-5 events I think) but the pedal is starting to feel soft... I need to flush it again I believe.

 

Sin, do you have steel braided brake lines? If not I highly recommend them, pedal feel is so much better.
