it is not normal to have any 'clunking' from suspension no diff what shocks were used.

I'm surprised at the number of us that have this issue and yet no service department has figured it out.

The one possible explanation that I've heard that makes some sense is that it's the hood latch knocking around a bit. Maybe we should try wrapping some tape or other padding around the hood latch loop and see if the clunk goes away.

go to the turbo thread and you may find a different answer. I did a poll on damptronics and clunking and a very substantial number of cars had noises...

I asked my mechanic about that - he says it it not normal and if properly installed pss10 must be silent. his guess was to check geometry of a wheel uprights and if car was lowered beyond proper limits so arms are not perpendicular anymore if it messes up how it should work. my JRZs do not make any weird noises, nor did Koni in my previous car.

only 'clunk' one may get is from single springs with no tenders when they go to full length and make a gap between mount then go back. if something from inside the shock makes 'metal meets metal' sound every now and then, well, it is not very good IMHO.

ps: I looked at the thread and it looks like it is an install issues with idiots not knowing how to put tender springs properly on a shock and got nothing to do with a shock itself.

Casey,

Since I have your adjustable sway bars/ drop links, are you saying that a little low-speed "thunk" is appropriate? Mine does it when going over curbs, strips, or any small bump in the road at 1-5 mph. If this is normal, fine, I just want to know it. If not, what you you suggest to check.

take off droplinks, then inspect rod ends if they have even little bit of 'play' in monoball joints.
usual way to remedy that noise is to install droplinks with a little (very little in fact) bit of a tension - secure one side first then on other droplink rotate it a bit by hand to feel as it pulled swaybar down a bit. after that it will not make any noise at low speed road imperfections.

Mine is '07 with 27k miles. I've commented on this in another thread and didn't hear a definitive answer. I have the exact same issue. It happens the exact same way: low speed, wheels turned, over a small curb or strip. Seems like something is loose in the suspension, yet have never hit anything there is no noise any other times and the suspension is completely stock. Also, the mileage is such that I really can't believe anything is worn out. Back to my doubts about bullet proof reliability if something is worn out. You should never have a bushing issue in a car with so few miles that's not been abused.

Just wanted to update this thread...

Took it to the dealer last week, and it looks like the front strut mounts were a little bit loose. All fixed now

Going to the dealer Friday. Will post my outcome as well. Front strut mounts loose?? How does that happen? Other ones I've seen have been lock tighted. Thanks for the update.
