audiophiles - i need phone/BT help

ok, so the bluetooth in my 09 c2s works with my phone(s) fine - but people can't hear me fer shrek.

the car is a bit louder with the sport PASM and michelins but it's not the cabin noise, it's the mic, or so it seems. today my buddy said I sounded like i was in afghanistan on a satellite radio and i was on smooth pavement behind a prius. about as slow as i could possibly go...

any alternatives to the built in microphones? i can hear people perfectly and the aftermarket bluetooth in my old car (nav-tv) worked well when it worked - it just didn't support many phones.

my electronics guys don't have a solution top of mind so i thought i'd ask. hopefully there's a straightforward way to put in a nice noise-cancelling mic.

i'm using an HTC Ozone but have the same issue with a motorola razr...TIA

I'm very interested in a solution for this as well. BT in my '09 is basically useless for other people to hear me.

I just had a thought. Where do you have your phone when you are in your car?

If I leave it in my pocket the reception is really poor. I always put it under the pcm in that little area when I get in. Give that a shot if you haven't already.

damn. i was hoping there was an obvious issue with an easy problem. my phone is either on the seat or in the space below the pcm.

Mine works fine, wherever the phone is. Blackberry Curve on Sprint.

I've used my in car mic via bluetooth a couple of times, granted, not at highway speeds. It was with the windows down at 25mph in a subdivision, and the other party could hear me just fine.

A good test is, call your own home phone answering service/machine from your car and leave yourself some messages. Then you can listen to them when you get back and decide for yourself. Its not only the mic but the road/environment noise or the cell service that matter.

I honestly think that there is an issue too. I have an iPhone and people complain they can barely hear me but I can hear them well. It's not a reception issue. I have been to the dealer and there are no complaints log at Porsche about this problem. Based on how some are happy and some are not, I think there are some defective parts out there.

I've used a bluetooth headset with noise cancellation (motorola) - in our cars bluetooth sucks, especially with a mounted mic. My suggestion is to talk with a wired headset or on the native phone. Its the only thing that works in my car.

my electronics guys tell me there are much better mics but they're pretty wary about being able to attach one easily.

hmmm.

I use an iphone 3G with the Dension BTA1500 unit and nobody can hear me. I've gone though every mic setting imaginable and it has not gotten better... very frustrating.

Don't know how you can verify the mic, but I think you need to discover the real problem before going at Easter egg solutions.

My BT works fine - Verizon/HTC Eris/997.2/even on the highway - clear and easy to have conversations - my wife would be the 1st to give me grief if it didn't.

I just went out and called my home phone and left a message from the car - the mic is not bad at all really. I think that's a good first test - then YOU know how it sounds.

If there are problems, I think you should take it to service; '09 - should work, that's what the warranty is for.

I'm not sure how'd they'd know that without taking it apart - I mean one might guess that, given you can spend over $10K for some very high-end recording mics - I have several > $1K mics in my studio, so I reckon there's quite a spread - but honestly, I don't think the factory mic (actually 2 mics), if working correctly is that bad for making phone calls.
