Carrera S II Wheel Question
Carrera S II Wheel Question
I have a wheel question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm interested in getting the Carrera S II wheel (2009 wheel, see pic below) for a 997S (Narrow Body). I want the wheels to fill in the wells as nicely as possible, but don't want to run spacers. I understand there are 2 versions of this one, one that has different offsets for the rear, for the C4 Wide Body application.
My question is, will I be able to run the C4 Wide Body version of this wheel on a 997 Narrow Body? (specifically, will the rears fit in the Narrow Body wheel wells)?
Thanks

I don't think there is a difference, my understanding is the widebodies on the Carrera S II wheel just use a spacer if I remember correctly. Did you contact Wheel Enhancement if there are 2 rear offsets? If there is you should have no problem. A lot of people that end up with aftermarket wheels end up with a 52-54mm offset anyway which is where you would be vs. he 67mm for the NB.

From practical perspective you can stretch those rules, say, I run on hoosiers 245/295 on stock 18" 8"/10" rims - so tires do fit.
11" wide 19" rims would want 305mm tires. for 305mm rears you would want 245mm fronts, not 235 - check 305 tire diameter and compare how it differs from 295 - you generally need to try to maintain same ratio as it was for stock 235/295 tires diameters.
295mm is a bit narrow for 11" wide rims.
not sure if they widebody spec versions of the rears are available, but, as mentioned above, call wheel enhancement and see (1) if there is a widebody version or if the widebody cars just use a spacer and (2) if they have any available. That's what I did with my wheels - I bought the widebody offset rears. See my thread here for pictures:

thanks everyone for the responses! P Diddy-- those wide rears look awesome.
I am definitely going the more aggressive offset route for the rears. After I talk to Wheel Enhancement I'll update this post.

The classics are offered in 2 offsets, but I don't think the standard S wheels are.
BTW, those look awesome with those offsets. Some people feel that is too agressive but I love the look

Yes, the wheel comes in 2 rear offsets and the tires on the WB are also spec'd as 305s - see the Tequipment catalog on the Porsche USA site:
wheels with summer tyres
Rear: 11J x 19 ET 67 Rear: 295/30 ZR 19 (Y)
WB:
Rear: 11J x 19 ET 51 Rear: 305/30 ZR 19 (Y)
In the pics posted from p diddy, the rears look to hang about 1/4-3/8 beyond the fenders on pic #4 from the rear. I don't think I'd be into that, although otherwise the car looks great. Not sure if that is from running 305s or not.
The difference between a 15mm spacer and a 16mm offset diff should not be noticeable. So if not the tires, then maybe that is not the ideal setup. I can see why PAG specs it for 5mm spacers with NB wheels as that would pull that tire in just under the lip if those pics are an indication.

I talked to Wheel Enhancement and confirmed that the WB fitment (11" rear et51 offset) will work with NB cars as long as a 295/30/19 tire is used and the car isnt lowered. I'll probably be going this route.
Thumbs up. You will enjoy them. There is a thread some where with someone running WB Carrera II's on his NB. They look fantastic. I also think they will work just fine with a moderate drop with some eibach springs. This is the route I might be going except with Carrera Sport wheels.
cool i have to find that thread. Love the Carrera Sports also. It was either those or the Carerra S IIs!
