New to forum!
Hi everyone!
My father just got his hand on a 2006 Carrera S. So I will be recommending some tasteful mods for him down the line and would love to tap into the resources this forum has to offer!
Just to clarify, it is a 997.1 C2S correct? As in that is the correct short form...

I have a very similar car (silver) cab. Here is my list of recs:
SmartTop: essential for cab owners; allows much easier one touch operation
Exhaust: can add some horsepower but mainly can make the car sound a lot better
Intake: not sure if they do much but some like the look; or you could get a BMC filter
ECU flash: some increase in HP/TQ and better throtttle response
Clear side markers: I think yours are already clear but you can get coated bulbs to keep them from looking like fried eggs

Let him learn it a little bit as it is first, let him drive it as it is. Introduce him to all info sources like this forum and if he decides he needs something to be done on this car he will do it.
If he likes it as it is - so just let it be so as this car is pretty much great bone stock.
PS. Another great thing to do - to sign up for EVO autocross school. It has great instructors and I saw myself how people improve their skills there.

For exhaust, I was thinking of the FabSpeed muffler bypass. Any experience with that? One thing I want to make sure is that the car doesn't drone for him.

i would recommend as a first mod to buy your father 2-3 days with instructor on local track keeping car bone stock.

Congrats to your dad and hope you get to enjoy the car too!
Some people really like the Fabspeed muffler bypass but others think it's waaaay too loud and have removed after install. I think the difference being cab vs coupe. I have a .1 C2S cab w/ their Maxflo mufflers and they are perfect when the top is down. I'll be adding the headers sometime but that really only changes the sound not necessarily increase in volume. For a coupe though, they might be a little too muted but that's not your case.
Enjoy and welcome to 6speed

Plain no. No bypasses.
Put on 200 cell cats, keep muflers stock. Or put fabspeed maxflos but not bypass.
It is easy enough - get under the car, disconnect mufflers by undoing clamps, push pipes away a bit and start up your car. you`ll get an idea.

This is the fabspeed maxflos and this is the Fabspeed bypass. The bypass is also a lot cheaper, for good reasons maybe... lol

As for the bypass, does it drone in the cabin?
leave it stock and just drive it hard. if you really want to mod, damptronics (lowered coilover suspension), wheel spacers, SmartTop and exhaust are the only mods I'd ever do on that cab. skip the intake, flash, etc. - they aren't very compelling on a naturally aspirated car.
Ok, the bypass is a no go then. Droning is a must NOT. thanks for the clarification! Any other options you could suggest? TIA
2006 C2S Cab here. I agree with you on holding off on the mods. The car is awesome straight stock, have him experience that first. I for one can't utilize the stock HP I have in daily driving; adding more may be overkill.
