Jetpilot3 is infamous around these parts
1. I'd love it if Porsche could make the rear glass hatchback opening in order to slip your golf clubs in! This should only be spec'd if you opt for rear seat delete.

It's presently a hassle to slide the front seats and somehow juggle fitting in a slim golf bag.

2. Carrera option for widebody

3. Sunroof delete and glass if sunroof is spec'd

Lots of great items listed so far. Along the lines of others, I'd also like to see an RS America type of model every year. Another way to put that would be a GT3-lite: similar features with less power.

1. Longer wheelbase - get it to at least the wheelbase of the Boxster and slide the engine fwd a few inches.
2. Glass moonroof
3. better std exhaust note - so those of us don't have to resort to inventions such as the Gundo hack.
4. consider std PASM.

Other than that - nothing.

Also consider a lighter weight, 3.6 or 3.8 DFI model - no sunroof (carbon fiber roof?), lowered by ~ 1 inch, lightweight exhaust, light suspension, lightweight wheels, carbon fiber wing, reduced soundproofing...

Sunroof delete.
Limited Slip Differential as standard.
Stereo/Nav delete at no additional cost.

Now that we have the Panny as the big GT I think the 911 should move away from GT to sports car as much as possible.

997.2 Carrera Club Sport

I think it would be great to do a club sport carrera using only the base engine.

Like all RS versions, it would be profitable since Porsche would charge more for less. The Carrera Club Sport would have lighter wheels a more aggressive fully adjustable chassis, deleted rear seats, no sound proofing, no door handles std. sport seats etc etc.. for a few thousand over the base carrera. And it should get PDK with heavy duty radiators. And of course the obligatory bad colored wheels and uninspiring graphics down the door would be an option.

When I go to PCA track days, I can't imagine the investment in taking a 997.1 or certainly .2 and converting it for track use only as a hobby. $30-$50 for a prior gen. 911 that is track ready makes sense, but if there was a less expensive carrera 3.6 RS, that would make for a very compelling track car without having to spend over $100,000.00 before mods.

If I'm not mistaken Derek Bell's favorite car is his 924 or 944 Club Sport.

Only problem with my idea is that it would likely cannibalize some GT3 sales.

I like your idea drspeed. While it might take some GT3 sales, I think over all sales will increase as it will pull in many people who cant afford running a GT3 regularly, and who end up elsewhere (BMWs, Lotus etc)

you would lose a ton of your buying audience. Lets face it the posters on this forum are a tiny slice of the 911 buyers and I think part of the huge appeal of the 911 is the fact that is truly an everyday super car that does not make you give much up to drive on

Coming from a car with a moonroof to a sunroof, I'm all for the moonroof!
I may be opening up a can of worms by asking for the Burmester sound system to be available on 911's in addition to the Panamera / Cayenne. It would be cool but not sure if I'd get it in a 911, maybe a Panamera...
Anyone else want a 'chip' when you lock/unlock the car?
I also think that the 911 should have standard sport exhaust.

Yes that's true.

Porsche inc. before anything else is a business.

Speaking of a 'less expensive carrera 3.6 RS' - how can it be less expensive? Chassis of GT3 car is essentially same as on C2 car so all the differences are incremental. Biggest item is engine/clutch/gearbox assembly but if we decide to exclude it all what is left? Several random suspension parts? If not to exclude engine - how to make it cheaper?

I would probably be more interested in used market services from Porsche, says, very severely discounted offers to replace broken engine on 997 C2 car with refurbushed GT3 engine but now I think it cannot even be easily done and if to submit to it charge would be in area of $50K what totally defeats any logic as one can get M97 engine rebuilt to race specs for less.
