Misha GTM or GT2M, help me decide!!

Hey guys, I could really use some advice! I'm ready to order a wing from Misha, either the GTM or GT2M. They are quite similar and I just can't seem to make up my mind on which one will look best on my car? I have the RUF front end and Tech Art side skirts on my 997S. I will include a few photos below. The GTM doesn't have the sharp angle on the edges that the GT2M has. I believe the GTM matches the 997 GT2 wing and the GT2M matches the 996 GT2. Here is the link to the Misha website showing the 2 styles: http://misha911.com/porsche_997-1.htm

Should I go with the GTM or GT2M, what do you guys think?? Thanks in advance for your help!

Jay

I like the GT2M better. It looks a little heavier and will even out the "heavy" front end on your car. And by heavy I don't mean weight, i'm talking about aesthetics.

Thanks for weighing in Aaron, I appreciate it. I agree, the GT2M does have a larger/heavier appearance. The GTM doesn't have that sharp angle on each edge, it seems to have a slightly more subtle look in my opinion. Subtle is not a bad thing at all, I just want to make the right choice paired with the RUF front end. I will be calling your guy in El Monte for the paint work, thanks for the referral.

Not sure if I would go for a wing, you car is very low and sleek and I think the spoiler will ruin the subtleness of the overall look.

My car has a very similar look but white, I am considering a wing too but instead I think I'll focus on a new rear bumper, maybe a 997.2 GT3 rs bumper, I already have the LED's sitting and waiting...

I vote gt2m. Agree with V35. Your car is very front heavy. It needs to be offset with sharp angled addition to the rear

I bought the Misha GT2M wing for my black 997SC, and I love it.
I can post a few snaps for you tomorrow.

PS Can someone teach me how to post a pic in my thread, rather than as an attachment?

I also agree that he GT2M is the one to get. Here's a pic of a guy's car with the techart side skirts (that you also have), similar wheels, and the GT2M wing in the same color.

How is the quality of the wing compared to the NU-AUTO wing?? I spoke to my paint guy a week ago about wings, he said the nu-auto wing needs considerable bodywork before paint driving up the price...!!

Misha wings are of excellent quality, and Misha himself provides terrific customer support. Mine is a perfect fit. Paint shop should have to do very minimal prep/ sanding.

Here are some pics of mine.

PS Still hoping someone will teach me how to include pics here, rather than as little attachments.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, I really appreciate it! Your car looks awesome Cattman, the new "SC" logo is sharp! From following your other threads, it certainly looks like you are having a blast with the FI!

Let me ask you about your Misha install if you don't mind. Did you leave your car at the body shop and have them prep/paint and install the wing? I think I may have read in the archives that you installed the wing yourself? I'm completely OCD and **** with my car, I would prefer not to leave it at a body shop if possible. Can the wing be prepped, sanded and painted separately without leaving my car and then I can have my indy mechanic do the installation? Or does the body shop need to remove the factory spoiler mechanism to make sure the Misha spoiler fits perfectly before painting? I even considered sending the spoiler to Eric at Bumperplugs for the paint. I know I need to pick up the wiring harness from Suncoast, that's easy enough. Do I also need to pick up some mesh of some sort to cover the intake holes on the Misha spoiler? (GT3 front spoiler mesh?) If you could help me out with those questions Cattman, I would sincerely appreciate it.

As far as your small photo issue goes, you need to do a direct link from a photo hosting site. I use picturetrail, but it should be the same process for any hosting site. When viewing a photo in my picturetrail account, I right click and copy the properties. I then hit that yellow photo icon on 6speed and it will bring up a box allowing your to paste in the properties from the photo you just copied. A full size photo should pop up in as you are composing your message. Repeat process from multiple photos. Hope that helps!

You can have Misha ship it directly to where you want it painted, and then pick it up and install it yourself. He includes the mesh screens, or at least for me he did, and they are OEM GT3 pieces. They go in with epoxy. The wing comes with a CD with about 100 or so pics, which serve as very easy to follow step by step instructions. I took me a couple of hours, working alone.

The only part you will want a friend to help with is mounting the new wing, as it is a bit tricky to slide it into the brackets by yourself without scratching anything. With a friend, it's a piece of cake.

The involved part of the install is actually taking the OEM lid apart. You have to use certain parts (the tin inside piece and the outside painted piece where the logo is), but you remove everything else, such as the up and down spoiler and the motor that powers it.

Here are a few snaps from my garage when I did it. Funny to see the engine bay back then when it was simply a highly modded NA 997S, gosh, looks so innocent! Rep points if this is helpful, please

Wing and RUF bumper

Go big wing - good balance for the RUF splitter

Jay - did you buy the RUF bumper directly from RUF, or a 3rd party. I'd like to purchase one, but can't seem to find it listed anywhere.

Also, approximate cost?

thanks!

Have you consider going with the RUF rear spoiler to completing the look since you have the front bumper?

Thanks for the install details Cattman, I appreciate it.

Timmp: RAC in Texas always handled the RUF orders for the USA. But, I believe they may have recently stopped handling RUF. Here is link, drop them a line to see what the status is. The price list is on the site:

http://www.racperformance.com/index.aspx?id=RufParts

WHITE997GT3: Yeah, the RUF spoiler would be nice, but the part along is over $7,000.00. Pretty pricey!

I'm still kicking this thing around and have opened up to a few other possibilities. The Vorsteiner V-GT may end up being the direction I go, here is the link to that wing:

http://www.vorsteiner.com/porsche/91...Rear-Wing.aspx

What do you guys think of the V-GT? Certainly a big and bold piece, but I think the RUF front end will balance it out well.

Jay
