Can someone give me a straight answer..

Regarding a wing for my 997.2. Thought i would try the dealer i bought the car from..but said they couldn't do it..????? Went to a local dealer (large one) and said they don't do it but a local aftermarket shop might.. was then told i would have to change the whole deck lid and i would have intake issues?? something about not lining up right. Anyway...is there anyone on the forum that could point me in the right direction to some place in the NY/NJ area to get this done. Thanks

You might look for a different dealer since Porsche offers a wing -

I've been contemplating someday getting an aerokit for my 997.2, but also was thinking about other aftermarket wings. From my understanding, the wing is essentially part of the rear decklid, so yes, you have to remove the thing and replace it with the new wing. But as long as you get a wing that is specifically for the 997.2, the intakes should line up correctly. A reputable body shop would be the place to get the wing painted and installed.

I asked this question before regarding the factory aerokit - Suncoast has it for $5k and I was told it runs around $2k for paint and install. So I've been sitting on this since I also want to get new rims... I'm not sure if Misha has 997.2 wings or not - check out the site . Probably easier to fire off an email. And Sharkwerks has a whole bunch of Techart wings.

Finally, some electronic switch fault needs to be addressed also since the automatic spoiler will be removed and will generate an error with a fixed wing. The dealer can shut it off.

Can anyone who's actually already done this chime in? And OP, let me know what you find out.

i have the aerokit for my 997.2 c2.
I don't believe the aerokit fits c4... but im not 100% sure, i believe on the tech equiptment reads aerokits only fit on narrow body 911.

I remember contacting getty designs (http://www.gettydesign.com/) before getting my factory aerokit, they claim they can customize the intakes ..so if you have either 997.1 or 997.2 it will work, you just have to let them know...

anyways good luck!!

The deck on the C2 and C4 are the same - here's what Suncoast says
Fits 2009 or newer Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, and Carrera S models. Fits coupes only, not compatible with Targa or Cabrio models

Thanks guys for all the input. I have contacted some of the vendors mentioned and yes they did say they offer wings for the 997.2...it is having someone in my area install the set-up. The local porsche dealer said they would paint it but don't do installs. Need a good shop recommendation.

PAG offers a fixed wing and it comes with its own decklid and intake interface. I'm sure that you know that if you change the rer aero you also need to change the front. PAG does offer the full aero package.

I already looked into it. I like the front bumper from the oem porsche areo kit but not crazy about the wing..a bit too much for my daily driver. Have a few calls into vendors to see if the tech type III or nr auto wing would be a good match for the factory aero front bumper. Thanks

Just a side note: Your local dealership will not be painting it. They will just send your wing to a random shop and charge you a premium. Your best bet is to take it to a reputable local shop and save a few pennies.

I happen to like both (oem and type III) but I have to be in love with it to buy it. Each has top notch quality . If you but any I do feel it's important to do the complete system . It's often a topic of debate where someone will point out that he doesn't like the front but only the rear or visa versa plus the side skirts get the same. It's my opinion that these systems are tested in their complete form and when it comes to performance and safety I like to have the full setup. My Turbo aerokit was painted and installed and those things were pretty easy .

There are certain mod installations which go smoothly . The aerokit was one of them. The guys at Techart were extremely knowledgeable , helpful and professional . I bought a steering wheel from them too (Turbo) . I have been very pleased with my experience.

I doubt it will be a random shop (as in here is a board of paint shops, throw a dart at it, or here is the list, roll the dice).. but rather they will use their own preferred shop.. either easy to work with or close by. It is better for you to just find out where they get it done and have that shop do the paint for you.. or at least check the price. If you go to the shop, you pay their retail price. Your dealer will get their commercial price which the dealer then marks up. So the two end-retail prices are likely different, but it isn't necessarily the case that one is always the cheaper.
