Dyno tune 997.2

Wsup guys,
A shop I use has a very well known, very proven, tuner working for them... NO NAMES, he wants to dyno tune my car, and has tuned many 997.1's with amazing gains. My question is has anybody here dyno tuned their 997.2 , any info, and input. I did a search and couldnt find anything, maybe somebody has done it but didnt post about it. Is the dyno tune a good idea? Thanks Guys

When you say dyno tune your car....what exactly is this guy going to do? Other than making a custom ECU flash there is nothing you can do. Making a custom ECU flash takes a major amount of time and deep knowledge of the entire system plus very special equipment to read the Porsche ECu maps. This is not some 1hr dyno time type of deal.

If you want to go the ECU route go with a company that knows and has results, Softronic, FVD, Revo, EvomsiT, GIAC are the ones you could look into. However for a stock car even with just a after market muffler there is not much you will notice.

Unless you have a real application for higher performance, you risk a lot tweaking a new DFI engine that stock is already a high-performer.

he will be running the car on the dyno and doing a custom flash as he goes along, he has a lot of knowledge about these cars, and about doing custom tunes... Hes been doing this for many years (not a noob), and I know many people that have had their ferraris, lambos, and gt3,gt2, TT tuned by him and have gotten CRAZY gains, gains that WILL be shown on the dyno. Im not sure about doing the tune, but hes known for pulling out more hp/tq than most any tune on the market offered for these cars...

Sounds like you've already talked yourself into it then. Why will you not tell us who this mysterious person is?

sounds risky, getting "crazy numbers" means putting extra load on car and risking lots of problems..

i would rather have a "known" flash from someone who sat there and took weeks to make the tune versus someone just knocking one out.. i have tuned cars in the past and regardless what you do there is always hit or miss..

the word "crazy" in crazy gains alone would make me walk away, their is no miracle cure to gain "crazy" amounts of horsepower without creating risks...

im sorry but if you want a faster car, buy a faster car... adding 20hp on a flash will barely be noticeable and probably wont even use it that often.. the only change i think it worth while is when people buy turbo's and then boost them more to 750hp/etc.... thats the only risk worth taking.. adding 20hp and possibly ruining the car isnt remotely worth it.

No secret, just dont want to get beat up by the 6speed G0Ds...the company is GINTANI, located in Van Nuys, CA . They are well known for supercharging M3s, and doing many amazing projects. My cousin acually has the white supercharged M3 that was done by GINTANI...

Will you be able to revert back to your stock tune should you have to pay a visit to the dealer?
