They really should. Even Ferrari is not offering a manual in their F458 as it defeats the purpose of technological advancement. If Porsche owners wanted a pure driving experience w/ a stick, Porsche should offer a car that is a somewhat gutted-out or de-contented version of a Carrera, w/ a few performance tweaks.

As for Larry, you should probably track your car a few times before you consider the GT3, and ask yourself if you really want or need the car at that point. People always want what they don't or can't have.

My point being that it is really easy to be infatuated with an ideal of perfection (i.e. GT3RS) since it is by definition flawless, but the harsh reality is that (at leas for me), my back isn't as it used to (tough mornings now), my driving isn't at it used to (less aggression, more enjoyment), all in all, I am just more ready to take compromises now. The bottom line is: pursuing perfection takes a lot of time and energy - which are both finite quantities and spread onto more and more endeavors as I grew older.
Years ago I saw a movie where this specific scene touches upon what is so commonly observed with buying not just these cars but so many things. I went and found it today --just to think.

Absolutly...PDK is Sooooo fast. Plus for me due to my physical limits with pushing a clutch this would be my dream car.

Larry,

If your not going to track your potential GT3/RS then I see no reason for you to buy one. You said it yourself, the modded PDK is going to be almost as fast, if not faster, than a .2GT3 (on the street). And, if you are keeping things on the street then what is the point? If you want the look, save yourself a lot of money and throw on the GT aero bits or go with the .2 Aero Package. Otherwise you are just satisfying your ego with a car that only other Porsche geeks are going to recognize.

I hate to say it, but I am one of those guys that really feels like buying an RS or GT3 and not tracking them is defying the Porsche gods.

or perhaps buying an RS or 3 and not tracking it is honoring the porsche Gods by eating up all that depreciation to bring the price down to where somebody who will track it can afford to do so. sort of a catch and release program
