Is this all I need to add navigation?
I've been looking at retrofitting nav to mine but looking at the Pioneer install thread by Youyou certainly changed my mind. There are bezels and wire harness which not only make the install look like factory, but also completely reversible. Not to mention it's cheaper and far more advanced than even the PCM 3.
no affiliation. i'm still pissed i can't add XM to my 2009
I recently picked up a 2006 C2S... Pictures to come soon. The one option it's missing is NAV. Do I only need the DVD player, Nav DVD, and antenna? I don't need a new head unit right? Here is the link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...ht_1734wt_1586
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.
All 997's come pre-wired, it is literally as simple as plugging in a lamp. Just a little more complicated to get to.
Suncoast Ric helped me out a lot when I got the unit off ebay. I have a Targa 4 and bought the correct unit (ends in 139 or 159) but they shipped me a C2 unit (ends in 137 or 157). The C2 unit still worked I just had to custom mount it horizontally instead of the factory vertical mount for the AWD cars...
Do you research on the net, there is a ton of info.

FYI
I did an aftermarket custom install of a Kenwood 8100 unit. Very nice system but.
1. If you have the Sport Chronos package you will still be able to use the stopwatch but you will not be able to review the stored lap times after the fact- this requires the original head unit.
2. You can no longer change the default for driving head lights.
If you want to use more than 4 speakers you will also need an amp. I went the standard 4 channel amp that came with the system. The sound is not as good but the navigation, Bluetooth phone, iPod, and USB chip interface are very nice.
Wow, looking at some of these links looks like I could have done it through the existing head unit for only a little more money. Damn!

Just as a public service announcement: C2's use a specific navigation drive (horizontal installaiton), and C4's use a specific drive (veritical installation). So if you're ordering one, make sure you order the correct version.........or it won't function properly. If we can help, please let us know.
What is the origin/generation of a NAV DVD 997.642.137.02?
Will it work with a PCM 2.1 997.642.143.10?
(These will be going in a 2006 Cayman S with BOSE and CDC-4 changer)
Thanks!
I haven't enough privileges for PM yet. I do need the horizontal bracket/holder for the NAV DVD drive and a navigation DVD! (What year version?) You can PM me, same id, renntech.org?
Peter
I am a NAV-TV dealer if anyone needs an iPod/phone interface to the PCM units.
Paul Wolff paul@paulwolffdesigns.com, go to NAVTV.com first and find what you need, I'm not the tech guy to call.
