Is this all I need to add navigation?

I recently picked up a 2006 C2S... Pictures to come soon. The one option it's missing is NAV. Do I only need the DVD player, Nav DVD, and antenna? I don't need a new head unit right? Here is the link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...ht_1734wt_1586

Thanks for the help.

I believe you also need the cable that goes from the DVD drive to the PCM.

Thanks... So I see there are a few different part numbers for the NAV module. 997.642.137.02, 997.642.157.01, etc. I'm assuming only one will work on my car. How can I find out which one I need? Thanks again.

@Jack667 - I got your PM but can't reply yet due to my low post count. I might be interested. Do you know the part numbers and if it will 100% for sure work on a 2006 C2S w/Bose? Shoot me your email in a PM.

I am also considering adding factory nav to my 997.
A 6speedonline member named avmike shared some great info regarding adding nav.
He sent me a porsche tequipment pdf that is very detailed.
I can email you the pdf, just PM me.
Or search for "avmike" and PM him, he is very helpful.
Good luck, and let me know if that nav unit on ebay ends up working on your 997.

Wait wait, that unit is over priced. I bought mine on eBay for $450.00. It came from Korea or somewhere.

Install is super easy, did it myself in about 2 hours. Do a search for Navigation retrofit on this forum and you'll find all the info you'll need. The Planet-9 website has a very detailed install guide with tons of pictures.

You'll need:
Nav unit
Antenna
DVD
MOST cable (fiber optic), different cables for CD changer or Bose or Bose with changer.
Power cable
Installation bracket
Cover

I bought my unit off eBay and got the rest of the parts from Suncoast, they really helped a ton.

They're are different units for C2 or C4 models.

PM me your email address and I'll send you all the info I have.

Either way I recommend the mod, my car is heavily modified but this was the most satisfying because I did it myself. A lot of people hate on the Porsche Nav but I think it works great, and I'm not crazy about the look off aftermarket radios...

This is the guy I bought mine from, he actually sent me the C2 unit instead of the C4 but I still used it and he credited me 125 USD...

Just as a public service announcement: C2's use a specific navigation drive (horizontal installaiton), and C4's use a specific drive (veritical installation). So if you're ordering one, make sure you order the correct version.........or it won't function properly. If we can help, please let us know.

What a fantastic and INFORMATIVE thread.

I am looking to add NAV as well! In fact, I would also like to add BT and iPod control - which is readily available for a retial price of $699. I just don't want to spend $1K on NAV because, at that price, it would be tough to resist just buying a Pioneer Avic which has iPod, BT, NAV, and many other features. The only downside is that the Pioneer is OEM and there would be some functionality lost and some wiring with the Bose amps, etc, required.

I would agree. If you prefer to keep your car stock, then picking up the DVD drive on ebay for a few hundred bucks is worth it. Otherwise, going aftermarket you will get a better NAV system, bluetooth, mp3 storage, etc...

Since mine is not a daily driver, and I wanted to keep the stock appearance, adding the DVD drive, antenna, etc. was a simple solution.

I've been looking at retrofitting nav to mine but looking at the Pioneer install thread by Youyou certainly changed my mind. There are bezels and wire harness which not only make the install look like factory, but also completely reversible. Not to mention it's cheaper and far more advanced than even the PCM 3.
