Durametric Mods

I have read threads about the options available through the Durametric cable.

Today I had my buddy, Darin @ FD Motorsports, do my 45k service and asked about the options. He said, No problem. Picked up the car and he was able to make the following mods;

Side Markers
+ Side: They flash with the turn signals now
- Side: With Driving lights on, they do not come on anymore
I switched out my clear lights to LED's and they look very sweet at night, BUT they are white and not orange, which are for turn signals. Don't know if I will get pulled over for it, but I will see how it goes and if I like it or not. Darin can always put them back for me.

Windows & Remote
Almost all the threads about the windows going down with the remote also indicated you cannot get the windows to go up! NOT True!! Darin found the option and when I hold the remote on unlock, the windows come down. When I hold the remote on close the windows come up!! Very sweet option and compliments the down feature. If you let go of the button at anytime during either process, the windows will stop at that point.

So for those that have not been able to get that option to work, contact Darin. Of course you need the Pro Cable for this to work, hence why I had him do it because I only have the basic cable. In talking with him about it, he said it wasn't too hard and it's "where you would think it would be", but none the less, it's done and I'm a happy camper!!

Don't ask about the location because he didn't tell me nor was I going to write down the option at this point. If I get a Pro Cable then maybe I will check it out and find it.

I really think this is a real nice feature because sometimes I have gotten out of the car and had to go back to make sure the passenger side window was up...so as I leave the car, it's nothing to hold the button for 10 extra seconds for security of closed window!

Now I didn't ask about the sunroof being part of that option, like BMW's do, but I don't think I want that feature available anyway.

So massive REP Points to Darin, if I could give him any, is he even on 6speed? I never asked him!! While I was at his shop he was slammed with mods for .2 mufflers. Word is definitely getting around for this cheap yet very sweet mod!

Is there a list anywhere of what mods can be done via the durametric cable?

I wish! If I get the Pro Cable...I would post those options. I would need time to play around with it though.

I will check it out. Not part of that site, but I will browse it.

One thing though for those reading this thread. If anyone changes out the side markers to LED lights, you will get error codes. I just started getting them, so I changed back to the clear lights with the orange bulb. This leaves me legal and then the lights function properly. The LED's look nice at night though...but it's all good for me. I don't want my car to look like a tuner car!!

Raider, i manage to get canbus supposedly error free amber leds. Super bright but even if they were suppose to be error free they still had error messages. I read about it and installed load resistors. I used 10w 40 ohm units for each side. Connected them in parallel. No more errors. Very nice. I had the dealer program that they function as side markers and turn signals. What was lost was the blink when you activate the alarm. Legal and niiice. These amber leds are very nice....great upgrade. Although with the load resistors we loose the energy saving feature of leds.

I wonder where that feature is because Darin at FD says he only found the blink feature or side marker feature. Maybe that is a dealer only set up. I will have to check that out further. I will look into the amber LED's and resistors if needed. I have some resistors, so I will check watts to see if the match up with what you did.

Thanks

you should get the silver coated bulbs, they still flash orange so you are legal but they look so much nicer than the amber ones

Yes, Durametric can only set them as side markers or turn signals, not both. It also changes the way they flash when using the remote.

Option 1
Side Marker / Direction Indicator Light: Side Marker
Side markers do not flash when vehicle locked or unlocked

Option 2
Side Marker / Direction Indicator Light: Direction Indicator Light
Side markers do flash when vehicle locked or unlocked

FWIW Comfort windows are well documented and many people are using them, including myself.

I have Option 2 on mine. And I have the comfort windows as well. Do you know why the windows sometimes "stutter" when going up? Could it be distance away from the car when operating? Only happens when going up never going down.

Could be, I believe you have to be pretty close to the car for the comfort windows to work, and if you are too far away the signal may be lost. I've never noticed mine stutter going up or down.

Phil could be right when it comes to the durametric capabilities. However, as already verified, i have the feature, the lights could be programmed to be both turn signal and side marker at the same time. It however, was programmed throguh the piwis. And...the lights do not flash when arming and disarming.
