I am really interested to hear your impression of the softronics. There are 2 reasons I have not wanted to do softronics
1. I am not good with doing things myself regarding computers, especially when people say its "simple".
2. I heard that it was not as aggresive as EVOMS, even by a tuner that does mainly softronics and other types.

So what do you think in terms of gains that you actually feel?
I am no computer expert either...I still have to ask my wife how to do things in excel! I will tell you that flashing your ECU with Softronic is super simple, fast and safe. I did my 07 Carrera S when I had it and it took only about 10-15minutes and that included hooking the computer to an extension cord in my garage and pluging it into the car.
I have not done any other brand of flash so I can not compare. I drive very normal on the street and really did not feel any difference on the street. I go to the track a lot and could tell that the car seemed to have a little more pep in the 4-5500rpm range coming out of a turn for example.

KK Moto, I know for sure that the Fabspeed intake for the 09-10 cstandard Carrera will throw a code. I was told that the Fabspeed would probably not throw a code on the S version of the car....however I believe you have found it it will.

I do not think you would have heard a Softronic dealer promoting another tuners files as we do not allow any of ours to sell other flashes. What was the dealers name?

Regardless of the flash you go with or not I strongly suggest in not removing ANY DFI dme for flashing. As long as you want a program I would suggest you either do it yourself via the port or have a dealer do it as such. Tampering with the DME would immediately void the power train warranty regardless what is found after that in the binary. Porsche considers the tampering only done for bench programming.

Best,
Scott

Lucky me. I've got a casual inquiry in to Fabspeed. Not really their responsibility I suppose if their individual part does not throw codes. But.... when attached with other components... Well it's the parable of Mac vs PC. One makes sure all components work well together, the other, well, buyer-beware.

Tubi Regular exhaust, GIAC Tuning, Champion intercoolers

Yes, my 07 997 TT is getting the Tubi Regular exhaust with GIAC tuning and Champion intercoolers. I am getting it done at Porsche dealers to play safe.
I could also got it flashed at other place for around $600 but instead is paying around $3000 for flash, $5200 for Tubi regular exhaust and lastly $4100 for champion intercoolers. I will get my car back tomorrow. I hope they sound more louder with improved power.

Oh my those are some really expensive price quotes! Are you lubed up or something....geesh....I'd look for another dealer.

It does not matter if a Porsche dealer does the install or a high end Porsche reputable independant dealer. Warranty is void from Porsche as soon as you flash the ECU anyway. Remember the warranty is the Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and NOT with the local Porsche dealer. My Porsche PCNA Zone Rep made sure I understood this before I did a ECU flash.

Not true some dealers especially out there in Cali not only do the flash but exhaust and it does not void warranty.

Thank you, Only reason why I am doing this at Porsche dealer while paying higher cost is to preserve my warranty. My warranty runs out 2011 + 2 years of Porsche certified warranty going out to 2013. I talked to service manager at the dealer and was told that he will give me to me in writing about their work and it will not void the warranty from PCNA. My friend just did Cayenne Turbo and was very happy with his result. He only did GIAC Tuning with no other work. Anyway, I feel lot better seeing your e-mail. Some dealers are not new to the after market modification and are discouraging the work with false story.

Quite true it really is according to the dealer. I am lucky that out here the dealer not only does a lot of after market work but the prices are way reasonable. If I were you I would look for a different dealer cause those prices are way too high.

If all goes well.... i might be able to get a free software tune from Tam Autoengineering here in Dubai. They will be using the Revo technic software. I will post both before and after dyno charts if the deal goes through.

In houston, we have 3 dealers.
Dealer 1 - no quote, not interested in any parts that are not porsche OEM
This is the biggest dealer in Houston but I had some issues from this place. I paid too much for installing K40 radar system and XM receiver installations. Dealer did not do the work and it was done by the shop which was recommended by the sales manager. They took me for the ride. K40 - $1995 , XM receiver - $1200., Not only that, I have not received my second key and it has been three weeks since I purchased car from this dealer. Finally, I contacted the Porsche USA and filed case #. Now this dealer is moving to get things done quicker. There are other place in Houston that you can do the K40 for $1250 and XM receiver for $800.

Dealer 2 - 20 miles from my house, so I didn't even bother
Dealer 3 - Great service manager who has very high reputations. My good friend who has been PCA member for 22 years told me if this guy tell you that you need the brakes, you really need the brakes. Since my car only has 1300 miles now 07 997 TT, I did ask the Serv. Manager about the future maintenance work.
He told me spark plugs do not need to be changed out till 30k miles and other items that are not bad including the belts and other items will not be changed out during next major check up which will be done about 1 year from now. ( Car will be about little over 4 years old by then). So, that was the other thing that I found out which made decision little easier.
I did price the new Champion intercoolers and they retail for $3500 just on the parts. If you cool, could you possibly get the drive out pricing in your state and share it with me? I am just curious.
Sorry, I didn't mean to write too much

I ended up getting the softronic flash instead of the EVOMS. The main reason being that they would have to do a bench tune for EVOMS which means breaking some seal on the ECU and removing it, this is not something I want to risk.
My impression of the tune is that I dont really dont know if I feel anything. I was warned this might happen but I also heard from others that they felt the difference...so I had to find out for myself and I dont regret it.
The other concern I mentioned before was the ease of installing myself. It was not as easy (at least for me) as some say. I luckily had a fellow 6speeder who is very good with computers help me out. They will warn you that the car might go into limp mode even if you do everything right, so do the tune in your garage at night. The limp mode can last over 10 hours as mine did. There was a temporary CEL even after the limp mode was over and it went away later that day. The guys at Vivid were very helpful and eager to assist.
If you guys have any more detailed ? feel free to PM me or just mention on this post.

Thumbs up Ecu

Having recently completed a Fabspeed Stage 1 (Maxflo exhaust, X-pipe, cold air induction and EVOMS ECU re-flash), I would say that the individual components work together wonderfully and feel very natural.

Having been advised that ECU must "learn" to be effective, I went through the exercise of teaching it 0-100% throttle and, 200 miles on, can tell you that the power produced above 4,000 RPM seems noticably better.

Look at it this way; for <$6,000, could you buy the next highest level 997 ?

No, I thought not.

Your inclination is spot on from a value perspective; do it.

Revo does not have a tune for 09 cars yet. So, if someone is saying that they can do it with reeve....uh it's not true.
