If I had to put up with that I either would have no car at all or just some cheap POS that I didn't care about. I wouldn't let a bunch of a-holes destroy my car for me. I don't even like it when the mechanic at the dealer gets in the car...

Wow, I saw a parking spot for rent sign in downtown Vancouver for $150 a month and thought that was a lot. $1500 is crazy!

A girlfriend of mine who lived in France used to keep her car in a garage 2 hours outside of Paris. No need for a car in the city but for road trips or the like we would take an early train to pick up the car. Ok, so you can't just hop in and go but it made you plan trips. Then again, cruising the French countryside is way cooler than the Jersey Turnpike.

It seems more and more, if you live/work in a city, it's hard to own a car you care about. We're forced into disposable transportation that will fit in small spaces.

But even damage to a cheap car can cost you more in the time it takes to get it all fixed than the damage is worth. Ugh. No insurance check for your time.

I'm reminded of that scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off when they give the keys to the ferrari to the parking attendant.

You don't fix a cheap car, that's the point. You just let it slowly fall apart over time...it's a beater, and that's it's purpose. I've got a van that I use for work and beat around town in...I backed into a wall once, I've almost ripped the mirror off the passenger side, it's been keyed, I don't even know how many door dings it has, etc., etc. And it's still wearing all the battle scars...and I don't give a f about it which is very peaceful, unlike the Porsche.

I was going to a DE event at Lime Rock on Saturday so I brought my car into the City and parked at the garage where I keep my X5 regularly. I think they do an OK job there but its the roads and other drivers on the City roads that really bother me.

I leave my car at a family members home in Rye regularly where it is not assaulted by the trip into Manhattan. I just learned I am going to lose that space soon and am really bummed for the car.

Does anyone know of a good parking-storage deal outside the City limits? Perhaps a few like-minded individuals have some garage or warehouse space for their toys? Any ideas would be appreciated.

This place is pretty nice. I've been to a few events here. Guys seem very professional. Tons of killer cars there.

Keep fighting the good fight for your Porsche - it's worth it! My situation is not nearly as bad in Midtown Atlanta, but living in a high rise condo building means I get a parking garage spot on the 4th floor. The ramp and speed bumps are enough to prevent me from doing any suspension mods, and the streets around here wouldn't be nice to the 20" wheels I want. Oh well, I love the city life, but will just have to save the car mods for one day when I settle in the 'burbs.

BUMP - any good parking ideas outside the City but nearby? Anybody have an extra garage to rent to a fellow P-car?

Thanks for the collector's garage, been there, great place but too far away... need the car closer.

Ouch!

Is your garage for residential or your business location? They don't let you park your own car?

I've had to eat some humble pie lately, and re-examining how might change my own attitude in future, I'm thinking that in this situation if you know the valets pretty well, why not give them a little complimentary instruction on how to drive and park your ride? And, once in a while, bring them an extra $2.00 Starbuck's coffee as a treat/tip?

For some reason, I've got Ferris Buhler on my mind seeing others park your car.... hahahaha... sorry, I know its not funny.
