Shopping for a 09 997, lil help and advice?
I have PDK but no sports chrono. Drove cars with sports chrono that were manual. I don't know the pdk is such a huge improvement don't think sports chrono is a deal breaker...just my imo. Hell, you can always get an exhaust or a chip....You do know the cars already go 180 + mph. Like other than a track where you going 180....I need more bigger badder..get bent love my stock 911 seems to be fast enough..for now.
On a PDK car, SC is very important because it affects the way the computer shifts. If you want to drive very aggressively, you must get SC for PDK.
On a manual car, it's not a necessity. The main difference is the throttle response remap. A SC car with the sport button off has the same throttle response as a car with now SC. When you press "sport" it puts a multiplier on the egas. It doesn't give you any more power, it just makes the throttle open more at partial pedal. Obviously subjectively this makes you feel like it's more eager to rev. For actual serious racing you probably want sport off, because it gives you finer throttle control. Anyway some people really like this feature, some don't.
With PSE, Sport also opens the exhaust, which enhances the subjective impression that you're getting a power boost.
If you're looking for a pristine 997S for just over $60k, PM me. I found it much better to get a well optioned car in the price range, than a stripped down version without the important options.
I don't have enough posts to PM yet so if you could PM me, that would be great.
Also, I found a 09 997S with 3200 miles, 6spd, navi, not sure all the options yet. I can buy the car for $72k. How good of a deal is that. original sticker was 98k

This sounds a lot better !!!! Do get a PPI done as well as a DME scan to detect over rev history. This actually is a lower price.
Are you sure it's an S ? I looked at the region .. not many cars. I found this car --still priced in the upper 60's. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
It's at Mike Smith Mercedes Autoplex in Beaumont, TX. They are asking $78k but he's willing to wholesale the car at this point. I offered $70k but it appears it will take $72k to buy the car. If anyone is interested, I have a copy of the window sticker.
I can't help but think back to 2009 which is the actual year of the car. I had called two dealerships and both were at 20 percent on that given day but one car had nearly the same MSRP (ballpark 99K) and they offered it at 79K and change .
So now the same car is worth 72? Having been titled, driven, and on the lot of an MB dealership .
I'm in agreement with you at the 70K .In fact my feeling is that if you are going up this high in price you are already deep enough to look at new cars .. or even better .. a used Turbo (they can be found in the 80's with CPO and low miles ).
IMO the most overrate option is the NAV. You can get a decent NAV such as Garmin for under $250. And honestly I don't mind getting lost and driving a little bit more than I have to in my 997.

I agree ..... I don't know what's tied into the NAV that makes it worth the money they get for it but I wouldn't walk across the street to get it in the car. Just a cheap portable and I'm happy and I'll switch it from one car to another when I need to...
