Shopping for a 09 997, lil help and advice?
I drove an 06 Carrera S for a few I was flipping for a friend and I've decided to buy one for myself.
I want an 09+ base Carerra. My budget is right around $60. I've found a few cars in the $65-$68 range but they didn't have many options or had more than 10k miles. I've got the money ready and waiting for a good deal.
Anyway, as my first post I'd like to make ask two questions.
1. Please keep your eyes open for a car for me and shoot me a PM if you see something.
2. What options does everyone find to be most important/most frivilous?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

I don't see any on autotrader for less than about 68K....most asking prices in the 70's.
My feeling is that prices will trend higher the next two months or so.
good luck
Let's try to keep the flames to a minimum please. I'm simply looking for suggestions from the forum. From my perspective, I found three cars for $65k with less than 5k miles with various options. No stories on any of them. All had clean carfax and were private sellers. They were listed for around $68-$70k but each seller was eager to move the car. I figured if it was this easy to find cars for $65k that I might be able to get closer to $60k. I never said less than $60k.
Also, I'd like to hear why these cars might trend higher over the next few months? I would think with the new model year already here and the stock market continuing to languish, that prices would remain depressed through the end of the year. Couple that with shrinking bonuses and dried up big sale commisions and the "reward" buyers are few and far between.

No flaming here. Just opinions.
Some others...I have no faith in carfax. You will need to do a PPI on the car you are thinking about from a good source.
Porsche had its first strong month of sales in June. Also I have noticed that cars are moving quicker on the local dealers that I follow and asking prices have been drifting up.
I say go for one of the 65K and pass along the other two leads once you buy.
thanks

They're out there.. one of our fellow members just picked up this car a couple days ago - he stole it. This is a $90+K car that he picked up for $68K (plus T,T, doc fee, etc).

Craigslist is a great place to shop - as long as you, or someone you trust, can put eyes on whatever it is you're interested in buying. The only time I've ever been burned buying something off the internet was using Craiglist.
There are a couple on fleabay that might get close, although you haven't said what options you're looking for (PDK, 6-Speed, etc). I'm a big fan of the PDK transmission. The '09s came with 'push-buttons' rather than paddles (paddles are an option on the '10s and '11s), but you can retro fit paddles to an '09 w/ PDK for not a lot of money. PDK is a $4+K option...

Good luck..

1) Not flaming as well . When I said 65K I meant asking prices . What they ask and what they sell for are always different. I found three 09 cars with only 1 mile on each atb the same independent lot in NY. I can only guess that they might be leftover car. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
I agree with Buckwheat that PPI is imperative on any used car .
2) The uptrend is what i call a Porsche price bubble . It almost reminds me of real estate prices in 2006 when one could look at mediocre homes and they were asking a fortune and now one can buy them for less. Price is all about sentiment and right now used Porsches are in favor. I say wait .. and have been saying wait !!! Time is always on the side of the buyer and it makes no sense to buy at the high. In fact .. this is the time to sell a Porsche.
Well I just got my car for 68 and change it's 911 Carrea 09 with pdk, with 7k miles. My budget was also 60k. But the cars I get for that were 07's Carrea S cars. If you want a 09 for 60k, since I have been looking never saw one for near that price. Maybe at the end of the year but I doubt it. I just think that that price point with under 10k miles is unrealistic.
Car number 1: I know it's now Stockid's car. From my post above: >"They're out there.. one of our fellow members just picked up this car a couple days ago..."<
Car number 2: Why no comment? It's a low-mile 911 that someone may have purchased and then realized it wasn't the car for him. See the swingset and kiddie slide in the background in his ad?.. that might have something to do with his decision to sell.
I'm not trying to sell the guy a car, I merely pointed out that "They're out there.."
All these cars are int he 65-68k range. I see nothing in the 60K range for an 09.
BTW...The white PDK models were going for 67K new last year. (Yes, i know a much different buying environment.)
They are still great cars at good prices....
but they lack sports chrono that everyone here raves about if you are buying a PDK car.
For many its not an issue but for others its a definitive deal breaker.

Hey, I did read the entire post. The car is "brand new". In fact it is "brand new" at least 5 times over.
Further, the seller isn't aware of any "previous, current or future issues with this vehicle". A psychic seller!
LOL.
