I am almost ready to sign-06 C4S Cab
LOL
I think I found his beloved car
.
Not too many 06 c4S cabs in this upper stratosphere of price and what's even worse is that one would think the car would have EVERY imagineable option and the car i found has lobster claw wheels and no sport chrono --

So, if You are me. What price point would to take the deal on CPO status?
I am about make my final offer tomorrow, and I can wait if necessary, but then who doesn't want to bring home a new Porsche earlier...!

Any suggestions? It's my 1st Porsche, and 1st Porsche purchase experience, and I don't quite know what the margin they are making to negociate....
First off in the entire country there are only three 06 cars in your price range --that's how high it is!!!
Second .. given what you described .. you are searching in a tough region (northwest) particularly for the AWD cars due to the climate .
So -- I took the time to look at every C4S cab listed in the country . Out of 170 total cars listed (of all 997 cars 06-09) .. I can not even find ONE C4S cab that i would buy --so I recommend that you wait .
The used C4S cars either are too expensive , or have too many miles , and since its a rare car there really aren't many .
They are priced so high .. that it's almost as much as a new car .
consider this --
An 06 car priced at 72K is 5 years older than an 2011 priced at 117K or an 08 Turbo asking the same 117 with CPO (plenty of those listed).
One more thing ..
Your post shows a lot of doubts about what to look for in a used porsche and it is a lot of money to spend .
My suggestion is to wait .
And if you do buy that car .. get a DME scan (to detect over revs) , get the CPO , and it shoild not exceed 60K or the seller can buy it themselves.
For some reason it seems you are willing to overpay for C4s. Don't know why that is? Do you need all wheel drive. Or do you just like the body style. Can you live with an S or Carrea model. If so you can get a newer model for similar price. Just think paying that much for an 06 is kinda crazy. Hell you can find members cars that are cheaper with mods and well taken care of. But, if you are stuck on that car and want to overpay for it. Then get the PPI and GME and enjoy your ride. Also, since you seem to want to give away money....please send a check to my
fund....lol
fund....lol
I remember when I was in the market over a year ago, the prices being asked in the Pacific Northwest (for all 997's, not just Cab's and/or AWD's) were way overpriced and that's why I found my car in No. Cal.
Just to throw in another viewpoint. Lots of assessments of the market. The NW is "too high". That can also mean that people simply get more for the cars, especially C4's in the NW, therefore the relative values ARE higher in that region. If you want a car there, you pay a premium. (I like the way Edmunds and some others factor this into value). Larry wouldn't buy any car listed - simply because they are high. The values indicate that there is enough demand and the prices are high. Is that a good value? The market seems to say so. If you want a C4S cab, you need to pay up. Super clean C4S cab in the 50's - I think those people are dreaming. Maybe when the winter comes, but if you want it now the price will be higher. At least you could drive now with the top down...
I think this is a good point since the buyer is looking at a Cab and this is prime top down driving (especially up here in the Northwest). Seller is probably thinking the same thing.
RyeM3 points out that there is demand if the prices were high and I would agree IF the cars were selling but they aren't . In fact I look at these lists of cars over and over as guys on this forum ask and this little amusing hobby of mine to look along with them keeps turning up the same cars -UNSOLD sometimes for months at a time at the high prices .
I did not look at C2S cars --have no tkme now but will later.
I did look at Turbo cabs (With AWD) and there were many in the 115 K price range or so everywhere.
I will look at C2S cars later --
But here's one thing I noticed --
Negotiating on new cars or the higher priced used cars like Turbo or Gt2's in the 115+K range .. all of a sudden the dealerships are ready to haggle --but in the 55K-80K range .. they have become very headstrong and firm in price and as aresult .. the cars aren't selling --so give it time --
In the end it's buyers who drive the market not the seller .
Don't chase the price . We've seen this with cars .,seen it with real estate too ..
This price bubble on used Porsches can not sustain itself and if it does .. then waiting will only give enough for a new car.
I'll look at C2S cabs later.

I'm sure many of you saw my thread earlier this week but here's the car I just purchsed for $60K with 2 years of CPO warranty...

I have spent many, many hours looking at '06 C2S Cabs and C4S Cabs during the last two months. I only looked at '06s becuase I wanted to stay under $60K. Saw very few C4Ss and the ones I did find started at $65K with +25K miles. The best deals seem to be on C2S Cabs that are private party cars with 20K-30K miles. I found many very clean examples with under 30K miles in the $52-$54K range. Some of these cars even had a year left on the CPO warranty. I ended up paying $60K due to the low miles, color and options I like and 2 year CPO. It's worth mentioning again that the car I purchased originally listed for $65K at Porsche of Omaha with no CPO. Haggling is a pain, but really pays off.
