997S Finally broken in!
I guess the real question is,
Is the 997 a Superior Platform compared to the 996.
Or is it virtually the same with just some updated cosmetics?
Hype says it is superior. But hype always says that.
What have they done to the Platform to make it superior, or is it just the same?
If the paltform is superior, than it SHOULD naturally follow that, all of the replacement models should be superior, to its 996 counterpart.
In a perfect world, this would always be the case. But how many of us live in a perfect world these days?

By comparing a 997 S to a 996 TT, If they were close, it MAY indicate that the 997 platform is indeed improved.
I understand its not as simple as that. The 996 TT is an awesome car. If the 997S can run in its league, then thats a great thing. So its looks very promising for the 997 TT to take on the likes of the New M5 V-10 and the MB forced induction cars.

Sometimes they make small improvements. For instance Track width. Or a slight angle adjustment on something, giving it better COG or more adjustment.
Stiffer over all shell etc.
Example could be, a different drive angle MAY result in less Power Transmission LOSS. Adjustments could be made that put the RWHP closer to the HP, in other words lowering the % of loss.
These soughts of things are interesting to know if the NEW model has any development in these areas.
HOW much more efficient is the 997 at putting the Power to the ground? (Maybe its not, maybe its worse?)
New is not always better, But I would hope so with Porsche.

Thats a mighty fine stable you have there.
When you say it does not compare by any means? I gather you are speaking just of shear grunt?
According to all the Hype, the 997s should mop the floor with it in the handling department? So is this just more hype?
What I really want is a 997 TT, but I don't know if I can wait that long, so I was considering the 997S. The HYPE is pretty persuasive.

Hi,
i think it makes more sense to compare the S with the GT3 MK1 performance wise. The S is on the same level like the GT3.The track times are nearly the same,or the same.
The turbo is from the performance better than the S,more torque etc.
Otherwise both are great cars.
cherrs,
