997 plastic interior bits to change?

I love the functional design of the 997 interior, but I am somewhat disappointed by the amount of cheap plastic used when some well appointed bits of metal-finish or similar could be used.

One thing I find quite lacking is the interior door handle, made from plastic. Besides the obvious upgrades like Carbon, anyone know where to get them made from aluminium? I was even thinking of making one myself.

I also think the seat mounted 'hooks' are quite useless... Maybe I can change them also? I think they're flat like so rear passengers don't end up with a hook shaped hole in their foreheads in the chance of an accident.

What other bits in the car do you think are a bit 'low rent' in the 997 interior you think could be improved by a simple change in material? I'm looking for ideas...

Howie

There have been a few people that have talked about Aluminum handles, and it was Porsche's intention to make them as such, however they found the handle was too heavy and caused other issues. I am assuming that it has something to do with the sensor that will activate the window down slightly while opening the doors, and acceleration.

Hmmm..... too heavy to make Aluminum door handles?
They can easily be made 50 grams or less.
The problem is money...as in "porsche don't want to spend any"

I would agree with you normally, but I read this somewhere, I can't recall where. In another thread recently, someone else also recalled reading this, so it isn't my mind making stuff up again
