My father in law has a 997 Targa 4. After attending bondurant he wanted a little more power(a ride in a modded Z06 didnt hurt lol). So after many jokes in an attempt to goad him into buying a turbo, we decided to just do a few bolt ons on his current car. I ordered Vivid's agency power catback, the K&N cold air and the softronic tuning software.
The sound is fantastic and the sotp difference was enough to make my normally reserved father in law outburst with a holy smurfing smurf

He knows that and I know that, they are definately polar opposites of one another. Both extremely enjoyable to drive in their own right!
The vette produces massive grins created by childish thrusts of the right foot, yet the interior is mediocre at best and it is definitely not a fun car to drive around town to run errands in. The clearance is laughable.
The 997 is just a lovely car that feels fantastic driving at any percentage of its capability, is just as capable running errands as the road course.
Really the are both 80kish cars with four tires and sporting intentions, that is where the comparisons end.
(still the grin on my face after a second gear pull in the vette makes living with the rest of the car a brief afterthought!)

I should also mention he lives in rapid city south dakota(we are up here working with him for the summer) so the durametric cable was an easy sell to reset the oil change light. Since we bought the cable the tuning was an afterthought.

I can't tell if he lowered the car but suspension and short shift would compliment his setup in my opinion.
I agree with your thoughts on the vette .
There's a quality and precision in the Porsche 997 which some of the faster cars lack .
We shall see, round two will probably be then next time we come back to rapid, maybe christmas time. I dont know if he wants to mod more, or convince his other half if a turbo is a good investment. I think he blew his mod budget on a marathon coach...
