Is The 997.2 (2nd gen.) 4s DFI Engine Better Than The 997.1 (1st gen.) 4s?
Big difference is...
There is no longer an intermediate shaft in the 997.2 engines. You probably know the IS bearings in the gen. 1 engine can wear prematurely leading to catastrophic failure if unaddressed.
That seems a huge plus for a high mileage owner.

I can speak as someone who's owned both a .1S and .2Base ...
I swear, my 997.2 base is faster than my 997.1S. It's a much smoother motor and like others have said, the PASM is better as well. Fuel economy is improved. Sound of the motor is not to exciting though. I can live with it, but I have to admit I miss the grunt that my S had.
Unfortunately, the .2 do have issues with the HSFP ... mine just failed and was replaced last week under warranty. Just FYI if yours ever fails, the on-board computer will start flashing "Reduced Engine Power", your car will begin to drive like a Honda Accord and the PDK will forget to upshift. Great experience.
