I was a little worried, but it turns out just the coolant cap was leaking. So they replaced that and $95 later she's home. Of course the warranty deductible is $100. Haha. But I'm not complaining. The guy in service said this happens over time and isn't uncommon. Anyone experienced this? My car only has 15K on it. Not worried, just curious.

 

15k miles and you are out of factory warranty? Super low mileage car, I'm assuming.

The aging of plastic and rubbers due to oxidation and other environmental impacts is driven by time, not mileage.

 

Your warranty must have just recently expired. Murphy's law.

 

My car had a little coolant leaking out of the rear. New water pump. Looked like it was about $600 P&L, covered under factory warranty. Only 27k miles.

 

Same here, except $974 P&L at dealer, no warranty, 31k miles.
