Bluetooth/Phone question
Bluetooth/Phone question
I just got a 2009 Porsche Carrera S, and I am wanting to use bluetooth to use my phone through the car's system. I cannot seem to get it to work, and I have researched this and other forums, but the suggestions don't seem to work for me. If I initiate the connection from my iPhone4, the car will ask me to "accept". I click "accept" and then enter the bluetooth code on the car and then the phone. But, that is as far as I can get. The 2 will just not "pair".
I took it to the dealer and they said that the software is all up to date. They tried turning on/off the SIM module, but this did not help. They then told me that the car is not wired for bluetooth. What??? How can this be??? The car recognizes that the phone wants to connect to it, so doesn't it have to have bluetooth? I even tried it with my Blackberry, and the car recognizes that it is a Blackberry 9000 (although it still did not pair with the car). This tells me that it must have bluetooth. Is there some other option that the car needs to be equipped with for the phone to work on it?
Thanks,
Chris

It can be added - http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...9972electronic
He already went to the dealer - going back is not going to help since he doesn't have the Bluetooth option.

I sent an email to the dealer with the link from suncoastparts.com asking them how much the install is. The part is expensive already, so this is not going to be cheap. It is a nice feature though.
See if your dealer will match the price from Suncoast.
The thing that gets people is they see there is a bluetooth transceiver in the car and expect the option is installed.
I think all the 997.2's have the built-in bluetooth transceiver.
Its not that expensive to build, easier if its just stock in the PCM and drives not only the phone connection but also the optional in-car handset.
To get the bluetooth to actually pair and DO something, you must purchase the option from Porsche. Luckily, you can add that at a later date. Its a matter of buying it, an activation code that is tied to your VIN number is downloaded that turns it on in your car's PCM and possibly additional hardware plugged into your PCM internally.
I have an iphone and recently had trouble myself... the car wouldn't find the phone, so then I tried to pair the phone to the car. That wouldn't work either... UNTIL, on the Porsche Computer there's a setting in there somewhere to reset everything to default.
Once I did that, it worked like a charm.

Minok, you are exactly right. I expected that it was already installed. I read where other people just had a setting changes to make theirs work and thought I needed to do the same. I had no idea that this was an option.
The dealer said they would match the suncoastparts price, but by the time the install is done, I am looking at $1,100. Ouch!

Yeah, its not cheap, but you cannot get the thing activated by anyone other than a dealer I suspect (or someone with a PIWIS that gets the activation code from Germany to match your car)... those conniving bastards and their brilliant money-making ways.
But then, when you look at it in relation to a $70k sports car, whats $1k.... At least thats the logic I used to justify the illuminated door sills, LED lighting in the door storage, etc. .. and now, after its all paid for, it was definitely worth it.
