GT2RS lands in OZ
The first of only SEVEN GT2RS for Australian shores arrived and I was lucky enough to get my greasy mitts all over it!
Guards Red with Carbon Goodness:
Carbon Matt-Black bonnet (boot) and side mirrors. NOTE: no ugly amber side-markers as required in the US!

Single piece engine lid spoiler and NO ugly license plate bumper thingamajigs as required in some US states. (Why do they have them anyway?)

Two-tone alcantara steering wheel with useless same on steering **** which will go black with sweat in no time. Note that this one was optioned with audio PCM and air-conditioner! Please, NO JOKES about the steering wheel being on the WRONG side - it's oh-so old...

PCCB and motorsport wheel lock

More carbon goodness and widened intakes for swallowing small furry cute things...

I must say, while I would love to own one of these cars, that steering wheel would have to go ...and not because of the RHD
Dam feds down there - assume laws still say no LHD vehicles unless vintage and a big fugly "LEFT HAND DRIVE" across the rear bumper

you mean RIGHT HAND DRIVE? Yes, the same goes for here in Australia. The law stipulates that it must have that sign unless the car is older than 30 years. I.e., anything LHD built earlier than 1980 is OK.
Hey Howie, I'm actually an ex-pat living in the states ...that LHD sh!te is just annoying
I cannot imagine the AUD$ MSRP on that GT2RS (even with current forex rates), likely quite higher than buying here in the US and shipping to AU
...but I sure wouldn't want that dam sticker across the back of that baby, even to save $100K

It is actually the tab to open the door, the boxster spyder, and the 3 RS have them also.
[somewhat] back to my original comment, the MSRP of this GT2RS in Australia is a WHOPPING AUD$560K [source]
WTF? ...considering the current exchange rate of 0.9719, that puts this car at USD$544K

...my research shows a US list price around $250K, that is an awfully large price to pay to let the passenger enjoy the steering wheel!
..and my family wonders why I choose to live in the US

The whole luxury car tax regime is absolutely abhorrent! There is NOTHING that warrants that sort of tax. I mean, there is no such thing as Luxury Home Tax, Luxury Boat Tax, Luxury Jewellery Tax... Just for cars only. It's HARDLY an equitable system of taxation for it targets only a SMALL group of people who have a preference for nice cars.
You work hard, pay your taxes, then with that money (already taxed) you buy something you love and pay tax again and again!
To me, it's a tax set up by the retards by both the left and right, but probably more so the right. Why? Because it makes those kind of cars only available to the VERY wealthy (who seem to get away with paying very little tax somehow!)
Here are the facts:
A car is subject to Luxury Car Tax (LCT) if it's value exceeds $57,000 AUD. Which is just peanuts. My other car, a VW Golf R32 cost $60,000 AUD and that too was subject to LCT (albeit a small bit).
The Government (labor LEFT) in 2008, upped the LCT rate from 25% to 33%. It's freaking ridiculous.

For my C2 997.2, in total cost me $220,000 AUD. Of that total the tax I paid was as follows:
$ 27.00 = Registration transfer tax
$ 15,840.10 = Goods and Services Tax (Value added tax)
$ 35,121.00 = Luxury Car Tax
$ 9,570.00 = Stamp Duty (State government tax)
Total of $60,558.10 in taxes for which the govt provides me F*** all with other than S*** roads and speed cameras in order to try to take more money from me.

*sigh* That felt better... </rant>
