Strange passenger window behavior
Strange passenger window behavior
My passenger side window is behaving strange from last couple of days. The sympton is when the key is in ignition and I start the car, window is trying to move up and down by itself. Up and down meaning when you open/close the door and glass slides up/down. It doesn't do it while I am driving; only does it when I am stopped at the light or in parking lot etc.
Did anyone every had to deal with this issue? My car is CPO and I'll be calling service dept today, but I wanted to check w/you guys first to see what the problem is if dealer gives me hard time.
thanks

Otherwise the behavior sounds normal and it's not a bad idea to read your owner's manual, occasionally:
Doors
If the door windows are closed, they will be automatically
opened by a few millimeters when the
doors are opened and, when the doors are closed,
they will be closed again. This makes it easier to
open and close the doors and protects the seals.

slowly so that the door window can be lowered
before the door is opened.
Opening doors from outside
> Unlock vehicle with the remote control.

Opening unlocked doors from inside
> Slowly pull door handle B.
Opening locked doors from inside
> Slowly pull door handle B twice.

OK, first - probably not a great idea to be opening/closing the doors while driving no matter what the window does...and maybe not even at a light (Chinese Fire Drill???)

Is the inside door handle on that side a little loose? There is a door sensor behind the handle that affects the windows. If the door handle is a little floppy or extends out a little.....then maybe its a sensor issue. I had the same intermittant problem on my drivers side. Was a quick fix.

the door handle seems just fine, I think I might have did something to cause this 1/4" slides while car is on and it's parked but when I start to drive this sliding doesn't happen. Yea if I stop and red light it comes back.
I remember one touch wasn't working on my passenger side window either and I pressed the window switched maybe too many times.
As couple of the guys above suggested that I should try the reset first and see if that works if not I'll take it to dealer and let them fix it.
I read it again - I suppose there is some ambiguity on the problem repro description as it sounds like you describe normal behavior.
That is normal.
If it does this when you don't open/close the door, that does sound like what mshanler describes or some other malfunction.
4 cups of Palo Alto de Boqete, Panama - mmm good - and that's all I can make of it.
Good luck.

The window is supposed to drop a 1/4 inch or so, when the respective door is opened and closed to clear the weather seal in a cabriolet...but the passenger side shouldn't be doing anything if that door isn't being touched. Also, these shouldn't move after ignition. (Is this also the case with coupes & targas? )
Until we see video or hear what his mechanic says........I'm putting the high-rolling virtual wager of a 2011 GTS Cab (
from this month's Panamera cover) on the faulty door sensor. Any takers?
