Question Can I lower height of the brake pedal?

I was able heel-toe pretty well with my previous car with any shoes.

However, I found it pretty difficult to do the same on my 06 C4S. Then I decided to purchase the Rennline pedal covers with the extension (But not the height extension). While it helps, that isn't enough for my liking.

What I found is that I can only heel-toe well when the car is set to sport mode under heavier braking.. but then if my speed isn't fast enough for heavy braking, then my brake paddle is not deep enough for my heel-toe action.

My guess is the extension piece for the gas pedal is going to help, but the installation indicates it requires lots of drilling.

I wonder if there is a way to lower the brake pedal a little, so that I have some extra room for braking deep enough to complete my heel-toe action?

Any suggestions??

Hmmm... just thinking out loud... I haven't looked, but surely the entire foot pedal can be removed, right?

Worse case scenario... I'm thinking you could cut the arm in half, extend it about an inch or whatever's needed, then weld some side plates on to each side... grind, finish, repaint and you're good to go???

It'd take some work and a welder.... but seems like a not so tough mod?

Cutting the pedal arm is a bad idea. I suggest practicing your rev matching, I have the Rennline 3 piece kit with the toe extensions, and it is very easy to do. If you were able to do it in a previous car, then you should be able to adjust for any car with a little bit if time and practice.

I have the Rennline kit too and like it. I like it more on the track. Heel/toe under light braking is just harder for me.

get rennline gas pedal extension. it helps big time. i also struggled with heel&toe - after this little mod it is not a problem anymore. it also elevates gas pedal a bit so it helps too.

i did not bother to buy brake and dead pedals - just black rubber grip gas pedal. works fine.

I had a set of Rennline pedals installed with the lifter plate and extensions figuring if a little was good, more simply had to be better. Took it to the track and found that with my size 12 feet under heavy braking I would inadvertently depress the throttle as well. Quite unnerving and not good!

The simple fix was to remove the lifter plate and extensions and now h&t is easy to perform. I seldom use this technique while driving on the street though so you may have to figure out a reasonable compromise for lighter braking conditions if that's important to you. Also, the Rennline brake pedal is somewhat larger than the rubber oem unit it replaces and that naturally positions your foot closer to the throttle in any event. You just need to fool around with the components until you find the correct setup for yourself.

proper shoes with round edges is an another 'must have' mod for performance driving.
when I wear really wide sneakers sometimes i hit gas during braking a bit too. but it never happens with proper driving shoes.
