Do I have to put the whole EZ-Tag sticker on my 997 windshield???
Do I have to put the whole EZ-Tag sticker on my 997 windshield???
Hi-
I just bought an '07 C4S. (Flew from TX to NJ to inspect/buy it, and had planned to ship it home but couldn't leave it there and ended up driving it home.) Anyway, among other dilemmas ("that word, I don't think it means what you think it means"), I am now faced with the prospect of having to slap a hugely unattractive EZ-Tag sticker on the windshield (EZ-Tag is Houston and the surrounding area's toll road account provider). The "sticker" itself is about 3"x4". However, it looks like the electronics inside the sticker are about the size of a nickel.
I was wondering if anyone had taken the guts out of a sticker and mounted them on their own successfully, or whether there were any creative ideas for dealing with the unsightliness of a fat yellow and white sticker on my cobalt blue beauty.
One obvious option is just holding the sticker on the dash when going through the toll booth, but that seems unsatisfying. It also used to be the case you could just pay the tolls as you go, but now there are roads with solely automated booths that require a sticker (or its guts), without the option to toss quarters at a basket (or an attendant).
Anyway, your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks--

I have mine mounted and don't think it's obtrusive...certaily not compared to the tag and inspection stickers.

Furthermore, the design in TX wont allow you to take the sticker out in one piece or working, unless you used a piece of large 3M taped to the windshield and the tag tapped to it... In that case it comes out in one piece. The problem here as stated above, is that they match license and model x tag
I felt the same way! So here is what I did...
I had ordered a windshield stripe and porsche logo from porschestripes.com. After I ordered it I realized that at 6'2" if I put that stripe on I will not be able to see traffic lights etc. So I put the logo on and put the stripe on the shelf for later.
That black stripe is what I used to make my EZ tag more palletable! I cut a piece and stuck it on the front of the EZ tag to make the front visable piece black. Then I put a bigger piece over the back which left an adhesive border around the entire tag. Then I put this on the windshield. It reads fine in the booths at speed, so no issue with the extra layer in front of the cicuits.
You can see it in the picture attached below the logo between the R and S. Let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers,
Ashley
